ISO's are obsolete, as is scrubbing them, but if you solved your issue and are satisfied then mission accomplished I guess

Edit: in case it helps, it generally takes no more than 30-60 minutes to follow a modmii guide to completion (and most of the time is spent on autopilot making a nand backup). I know you already spent 3 hours on your wii today and got nowhere, but I promise time spent with ModMii is productive time

I'm a bit confused.
How do I go about playing a split wbfs file?
also where on the SD card do I place the iso/wbfs file?

Welcome to the (not-so) Dark Side! Your newly modded Wii is capable of so much more than just playing Wii backups. Take your time and see what the Wii Hacking and Homebrew community has that may interest you. Also, I quoted you in that topic...

As for your question about the .wbfs chunks...

EXAMPLE: Super Smash Bros. Brawl is approximately 6.94GB.

Wii Backup Manager will split it into two chunks:
Name of game.wbfs
Name of game.wbf1

Create a folder with the name of the game, and put those files in it.
Next, rename the folder with the game's name and put the game's ID in brackets like this, I'm using SSBB as an example:
Super Smash Bros. Brawl [RSBE01]

You can find your game's ID at: https://www.gametdb.com

Next, create a folder named "WBFS". Put your Wii game in here. Move the WBFS folder to the root of your SD Card or external hard drive. Your chosen backup loader should detect the game, and then you can play it.

Modmii (Letterbomb) Tutorial for 4.3U. I have used this guide to softmod my Wii at 4.3 firmware. Make sure to update your Wii to the latest firmware which is 4.3. After that just follow this guide; it's super easy, hope this helps.

When I first started homebrew I used LetterBomb. But if you look up exploits for your wii version (I'm guessing you have 4.3 but I don't know.) you'll find some.

i used to go out to the recycling center every couple weeks and look at the crts and other electronics people would drop off. Usually screens were broken or severely scratched from being tossed around. Did find a good one here and there, but never anything like a 1080i widescreen crt.

Is it piracy if it was released for free? Not in my opinion, but I also think it's not piracy if buying it isn't owning it, and it's not piracy if you can't buy it from the original creators anymore.

Free release can have loopholes where they still make money through ads
