There is a 6.39 ME-4 LCFW. (Lite CFW, same as PRO). That's perfectly safe to install on any PSP.
Actually i do believe the Lite version works on any PSP, except PSP Go

QUOTE(nl255 @ Jun 6 2011, 10:57 PM) I have not been able to get game categories light (any version) working on my PSP Go with 6.20 Pro, but other than that everything has worked (except for 1.5 homebrew and plugins that haven't been updated, of course). Note that this is apparently only on the Go for some reason, several people have said it works fine on their 3000 running 6.20 Pro. Note that I have not tried using many plugins so far, just battery warning and pprefs. I will try cwcheat (mainly for psx memory card import/export) and a few others later.
Game Categories Light works fine on my PSP Go. It's best to download the latest version on the developer's website and read the readme.txt to ensure you installed it correctly

Also what do mean by 'this is apparently only on the Go' ? By 'this' are you referring to the Permanent patch or games gategories light? Because if you are, both are supported on all PSPs that can run 6.20 OFW......

I mean Game Categories Light on a PSP Go with 6.20 Pro-B5 (the B6 changelog did not mention anything about plugins, so I doubt that has changed). I tried both version 1.3 and neur0n's version. By not working I mean it is as if it is not enabled, there is no "By Category" option at all. The plugin is installed to ef0 (ef0:/seplugins/game_categories_light.prx) though I have games both on the internal memory and a memory card.

Have you tried Game Categories Light on a PSP Go with 6.20 Pro-B5 or B6 CFW?

The hacking stickies recommend the PRO series and only focus on 6.20 Perm and 6.39 Temp for a reason.

But yar, glad to hear you're liking it.

Becaue 6.20 and 6.35 are nearly accessible to everyone without much work and low bricking chances (if done right). In my opinion, these are very good. The ME custom firmwares are also dead (the developer joined the pro team) so these two are the best choice for everyone without much hassle. Could be just me.

Ye, it's working fine on my PSP Go 6.20 PRO-B6. Have you installed it correctly?
1.Copy game_categories_light.prx to ef0:/seplugins/
2.Add the line ''ef0:/seplugins/game_categories_light.prx 1'' (excluding the speech marks) to vsh.txt which should be also in ef0:/seplugins/ directory
3.Reset vsh using reset vsh option in the vsh menu to take effect

Should really read the readme.txt regarding installation and how to create folders......
