DS games- I'm just gunna disregard it. Unless something happens if inserting a DS game card.

Other than that- welp, I'm screwed.*headshot gesture*
If the 9.X firmware enables permanently and I don't don't have to do the procedure just to play my game, I guess it would be fine.
Otherwise, I will resort to importing a NEW 3DS from Japan.

You don't have to do the blue card every time.

You do it once and don't have to do it again unless you enter DS mode. I haven't even seen my blue card in months.

You DO have to enter Gateway mode each time through system settings but it takes like 30 seconds.

I'm pretty sure you need kernel access to remove the region coding. Which means it won't in its current form... and if it does, ROM loaders will be made for sure.

you need kernel access to make the system region unlocked so you know its not possible with smealum's new hack cause he refuses to do anything that is piracy related(except for allowing emulators, since that piracy is ok but 3ds piracy isnt ok)

If I live in the UK will my 3DS be able to play games from America?
The 3DS by default is region-locked.

The three main zones everyone generally is concerned with are U (US), E (Europe) and J (Japan)
Without any form of modding, flash card etc that supports it, you can *not* play games from a different region unless your device comes from that region (and in that case you can't play games from your own region).

Well, I've been meaning to bring my Bio grade up, so nah, I'm not in a hurry (my teacher takes a while to grade, anyway.)

So if there is any updates for like, a while (say, a next few weeks but before the end of January) I can wait.

Yeah unless you like y'know buy games, like me or say, OP.
I've bought dozens of DS games, but why would I want to lug around all those cartridges when I can just toss them all on a single microSD? Makes no sense. I guess if that's your thing more power to you, but as far as I'm concerned, I've got the blue card so I might as well use it.

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way

Just give it a try, but honestly if you have a 3DS you can play DS games without a card just off the internal SD card
