Hacking Hack wii easy (help)

Hi guys.
I hack my wii 4.0 and it works perfect.
Now i want to hack my girlfrind´s wii it´s a 3.1 version.
Whats the best and easy way to hack?

Update it to 4.0e if its european with the nintendo update and use the ultimate 4.0 guide

I try to upgrad the wii using internet but i dont now it givesme an error.
Can i upgrad using sd card or something like it?
