I'm going to start from the very beginning with the files you will need and where you need to put them:-
1. game-decrypter-by-yoshihiro - http://www.megaupload.com/?d=XHT6D58D
once you have unzipped this file you need to take the GameZDecryptZ folder and place it in X:PSP/GAME folder.
2. UMDGen v4 - http://www.megaupload.com/?d=ULXWJ6LU
extract the files to somewhere convenient on your PC.

now you have the files you need to start patching your iso/cso's for use with m33-6
now to start decrypting/patching your iso/cso (this is a guide based on how I do it if some things are not necessary then post which part(s) and I'll add a little note saying its not necessary).

PC
1. Drag and drop your iso/cso onto the UMDGen.exe
2. Go to File->File List->Export, save this file as Filelist.txt
3. Locate the EBOOT.BIN file in PSP_GAME/SYSDIR.
4. Right click on this file and click on Extract Selected, make sure this file goes into the root of your memory card.
(don't close UMDGen just yet leave it open).

PSP
5. switch on your PSP and run GAME DECRYPTER.
6. once loaded you have 2 options you can either:-
Press X to decrypt your eboot.bin OR
Press O to decrypt and patch your eboot.bin for 5.XX
this is the part were complete confusion comes in for me as I don't totally understand it HOWEVER last night I did assassins creed bloodlines and that required me to press O so for all intense purposes I'm going to say press O.
7. This process should take a matter of seconds once complete reconnect your PSP to your PC.

PC
8. Once reconnected go to the root of your memory card and you should find a new folder named DECRYPTOR open this folder to find a new EBOOT.BIN
9. Drag this EBOOT.BIN into the UMDGen window, it should ask you whether you want to overwrite/replace the old one say yes.
10. Now go to File->File List->Import, remember that filelist.txt we made earlier thats the file you want to import.
11. A dialog box should appear asking if you want to force LBAs, say yes.
12. Save your iso/cso and copy it over to your psp

now if I've remembered everything correctly and nothing bad happened then hopefully when you go to play your new game it will work (I hope XD).
apologies that the guide is quite uhh..messy but I'm not great with presentation when it comes to text.

if anyone has any suggestions or corrections PLEASE tell me XD I hate being wrong but I hate it more that otehrs get things wrong because I was wrong.

and one last note if anyone feels the urge to "tidy" this guide guide I would greatly appreciate it and your name could go on the main post for beautifulness

hope I've been of some help to you

Yes your guide is perfect.
You don't need 5.00m33-6 it works on 3.71m33-6.
When you use the decrypter v4 and the Umdgen4 I tried it on my phat psp.
The game I used was Disgaea 2 works a treat.

thanks for the comments

We need someone to maintain an up to date sticky version of this patching guide with both the Prometheus and edecrypt methods outlaid for games (and the KHBBS/MGSPW iterations) plus the ISOTool alternatives. It's not like it wouldn't fulfill the criteria of essential info.

....and possibly the eboot.bin patcher should be given a mention too....

I would have kept this up to date if I'd used my PSP more often, but considering there's info and stuff about PSP2 (Phantasy Star) I'm picking my PSP up more again.
I'm going to try that ISO Tool out later today if I can get it to work well I'll probably do a short guide for it, which may or may not get updated as time goes on depending on how much my PSP gets use.

EDIT:-
Talking about guides I don't even remember making this one

By all means if your ready to do a guide write it up, it saves me the hassle of figuring out bits and pieces from various crappy guides.

I pissed you off, how?

also win, I love it when I piss people off for no reason.

i think it was that post where the guy asked how to patch iso's,
and you said everybody should just sit back & wait for somebody else to do it for you!
