Just make sure to get a few good dumps before proceeding, as always check your soldering before putting power to it.
Yup, just to be sure, a 1k resistor, a pico, wire, patience and steady hand are all I need?
No bridging points and stuff like that?

I think the pics I took show all details for these questions. The motherboard is bare, just want to make sure I have all knowledge I might need before getting to it.

Then, just remove some corrosion on some metal parts (for some reason, there's a blob of rust on the dvd drive and in one of the grills. Weird.

I'm still using an ancient NAND-X, never done the pico route ;p
But yeh, steady hand, cool head space.
Well, I have a couple of picos and the end result seems to be same difference and other flashers (but cheaper).

I was surprised at how easy it was to take the X-clamp without a tool.

One of the good things is how deep cleaned we can get the console during the process. It's amazing how much filth they can get in all the nooks and crannies.

Hey! See? I'm stupid, and scratched the pad on the side of the real one, but in the end, managed to come up clean.

Time to get the resistor. For some reason, I can't find one in my box of trinkets.

How reliable is the ext_clk method for Xenon motherboards these days? Basically I have a banned one in a case gathering dust and I'm wondering whether it might be worthwhile to glitch.

I know people hate that this is asked, but... Will there ever be a softmod method to hack the 360 like it's possible with PS3?

I'm picking up a Kinect tomorrow with Kinect Sports & Adventures, although the game I'd like to play again would be DBZ for Kinect (I had fun playing it). Just don't want to pay so much for a used copy.

I doubt a soft-mod will ever happen, but the newer RGH3 is awesome. I've done over 10 RGH3 mods on 360 units and they are all working great. The RGH3 mod is pretty easy also, other than solder point C5R35. - https://xbox360hub.com/guides/rgh-3-guide/

I have an x-box with the a new dashboard, is there in 2024 a softmod solution so I don’t have to solder?
Thank you

My co-worker bought an X-Box 360 slim (Trinity board) off eBay. He said it was DOA. He was going to throw it away, but I talked him into giving it to me instead. When I opened it, I found a failed RGH2. The C5R11/C5R17 (I can't tell which it is) pad is lifted. I followed the trace to a VIA point and soldered the FT4R2 point to it. After fixing the trace I got it to boot, but it took almost 3 minutes. Since the boot times were horrible, I decided to update it to an RGH3. Now I have consistent boot times under 6 seconds. I used two gauges of enameled magnet wire. The RGH3 wires are 32AWG and the repair was done with 38AWG. I am impressed with how clean this mod is. It's even slightly cleaner than the original JTAG with the 2 switching diodes

Yes, but more complicated.
Hence why we should keep this guide up. Maybe users don't want to wait 20 minutes, up to 7 times (140 minutes) just to get into a modded state, then a RGH mod is for you. RGH can boot to a modded state in seconds with only soldering a few wires.

The first time I ever did BadUpdate I had to wait 4 hours :rofl2: the more options the better but if anything it's a great ad for RGH/JTAG services. I'm complacent with it.
