the dvd ribbon wont connect (damn clip broke off). it wont eject or anything now... any tips? i think when i superglued it back on, a small amount of superglue dripped onto the connectors... any advise on what to use to clean it off?

um nail varnish remover should do it rightly

use tape dont use super glue

i used electical tape at first, but it didnt hold...

i used a little bit of nail polish remover, but it's holding pretty well to the tiny connectors.. i'll try some more soon...

no m8 i ment to remove the super glue...

hot glue or something should do it even blutac will do just be gental with it, selo tape is good for holding stuff together electrical tape aint that sticky

Why did you disconnect the ribbon cable? Only the power needs to be removed then you just flip the drive over...

i told you to use hot glue not super glue!

atleast hot glue can be reheated!

i didnt mean to disconnect it, i was hoping to leave it in and do the job... but superglue was all i had... I am going to try to get all the glue off and try with hot glue... but if that doesnt work, any suggestions?

i did the same thing, almost exactly lol. i might have to just buy a new ribbon if thats easier. also the piece on the system is chipped on one side so i have to use some kind of glue to get it to hold.

how would you get access to the other side of the ribbon, take the whole unit apart? and do you know which ribbon you'd need to buy?

If it s anything like mine, you can still fix it. Get it removed SAFELY

Then, use your hand to try to hold it in and lined up to test if a game will read

This may take some time to figure out the "sweet spot"

Once you get the hang of it, goto staples and buy the hot glue there for $6 (works fine)

Get it in the "sweet spot" and put a tiny amoiunt of glue on each side, just enough to hold it down

Make sure you hold the ribbon tight for atleast 1 minute while the glues drying completely

Once you get it lined up right, you can go back and add "reinforcement" glue

If you fuck it up, just use the hot tip to heat up the glue, then pull the ribbon off. Let the glue cool again and you can pull it off.

DO NOT DAMAGE THE RIBBON WITH THE HOT TIP

This is all I can tell ya... I got mine working!

Oh, and next time you decide to solder your $250 system and $50 modchip, dont say "this is all I got" cuz you could goto almost ANY store and get a $5 hot glue gun, would be more than worth your time

well, your right, i shoulda took the time, but we were doing it way out in the country at this guys house... 30 minute drive to town each way, but i shoulda done it.
