Well, in my opinion Chrono Trigger is for the win but TWEWY is another great game, I don't understand how it is overrated =/

You know what reminds me of TWEWY fanboys?

The Twilight series fanbase

Soma Bringer is the one I'm playing now and may be one of my favorites.
It's an ARPG with beautiful scenery and sprites. Controls are easy, somewhat, and story isn't all that long, but gets you nicely into it.

However, chrono trigger is fun also. So are FF 3 and 4.
My next game to play is FF6 for the snes.

Soma Bringer is FANTASTIC; I've just started it (Act 2.) but it's already one of my favorite DS games of all time.
Then again; I love action RPGs.

My top 5 fave RPG games oh and to everyone saying chrono trigger is the best RPG ever try playing TERRANIGMA that game crushes chrono trigger for storyline and is much longer much more epic and just much better it needs a remake or just re-release for DS!!!

1) Soma bringer (when played with a friend) reminds me of diablo so bad and thats a good thing!
2) The world ends with you (would be No:1 if it wasnt for the fact soma bringer was so fun 2 player)
3) Final fantasy 3 (i did NOT like final fantasy 4)
4) Chrono trigger (fun game but not enough new stuff if you own the original like i do)
5) Final fantasy: CC (again much much more fun 2 player but loses its appeal eventully)

Soma Bringer = Amazing multiplayer action-rpg fun. Diablo for the DS. Myself, Wife® and Local Friend used to play this TONS. A great game. Needs a US release like nobody's business.

Chrono Trigger = GREAT old-school RPG. Loved it for the Snes, and then later on the PC (via emulators). I haven't gotten into the DS version that much, but hopefully i'll be able to sit down with it in the near future

And finally,

Best DS rpg--- Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time - Arcade-style play with RPG and action-rpg elements. Hilarious moments. DS-Throwing moments (stupid shells, and fingers that can't keep the combo going.....). All-in-all, an amazing DS game.

Without any doubt, Final Fantasy III, Final Fantasy IV and Dragon Quest IV are mine favorites when we talk about RPGs.....I'm totally oldschool fan..
Chrono Trigger is another exceptional RPG..

I could never get into TWEWY ..

I tried several times, but it's just to boring for me, I don't like artstyle at all....and I really mean it, I just can't get used to it.....Story is awful (I'm more dragons/knights/magic/crystals type of person), and the style of play is really meh..
But that's just mine opinion, I know that people really like TWEWY, but I can't stand it..

FFTA2 and Fire Emblem are my favorite Strategy RPGs..

I personally liked how deep TWEWY was.

When I thought I beat it, I was only at the half-way point. Then I had to get all the pins, and all the clothes, and all the food, and all the secret reports....

I'm not saying it's a bad game, actually, I agree it's pretty good game, really innovative and all, but it's just not my style!!
I did try to play it, on several occasions..but no, I just can't!

I actually thought TWEWY was terrible at first. But then it grew on me until I really liked it. I think it's way overhyped, but it's innovative and very fun.

As for best RPG's now, I'd say:

- Final Fantasy 3 (some hated it, I loved it)
- Final Fantasy 4
- Dragon Quest 4
- Chrono Trigger
- Tales of Innocence

I've not played enough of Soma Bringer to give it a fair judgement. Seems awesome though. I'm also liking RIZ ZOAWD, but again, I've not played enough to be fair.

And to be honest, I think the best RPG's haven't come out yet:

- Dragon Quest IX
- Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days
- Dragon Quest V
- Sands of Destruction (haven't bothered with the Japanese version yet)

Let's see, I will only list the RPGs I finished so far on the DS:

Chrono Trigger DS : Definitely a contender, had so much fun replaying the game (did feel way easier this time around)
Dragon Quest Heroes Rocket Slime : Maybe more of an Action RPG but ohh was it fun!!
FFCC : Action RPG again... Twas fun, more then I expected.
Lunar : Can't believe I finished that utter crap... Really.
Soma Bringer : Man did I never expected such an amazing game (tks to the translation team)
The World Ends with You : ...That is a game I'd harass my friends to play.

Big winner : TWEWY - Definitely a surprise for me, art, story, gameplay, everything about this game is just amazing, I did play a while and put it aside and eventually got back to it and finished the game. Don't miss out on this one!
Runner up : Soma Bringer - As a fan of Action RPG, I was served like only a Diablo game can but this time around I had much more character development and storyline and while it certainly was not the best out there, it was good enough for a game on-the-go. 2nd runner would be DQH:RS.

Quick Mention : Golden Sun for GBA is among the best RPGs I've played in my life, I remember when I finished it, first I never seen the ending coming and although I never finished Lost Ages, the 1st one is an absolute wonder, a remake in full 3d would be the best move Camelot could actually pull if done properly.

I'd say:
Final Fantasy IV: A great remake (not port) of a great game with the heart breaking story
Crono Trigger DS: The port with corrected grammer, animated cutscenes, crappy DS functions which can be TURNED OFF (thumbs up), refined graphics etc.
The World Ends With You: Overrated? yes. Fun? yes. a unique battle system and a great story. what it lacks. Character building. Yes pins can be trained but neku's stats are based off stickers. Shiki, Joshua and Beat are also built off stickers you simply buy. "what about leveling?!?!" that just makes you stronger. You can't focus your stats on maybe speed or attack or defence unless you buy a set of stickers, but who doesn't want to buy EVERY single sticker they can??
Soma Bringer Great graphics, fun multiplayer, decent story and great character building, and we got a good RPG. You can Build your stats the way you want, and you can decrease them to add to others if you make a mistake early which affects you in the long run.

thats exactly how my cousins feel about it

Whoh, I'm not saying that everyone should love the game, because it like how some people hate some food. It's a matter of taste.
