Gaming Graphics card

I have a really nice computer with 4gb of ram and 2.7ghz processer. But I have a really shitty graphics card. Anyone have any ideas on what to get?

More info about you're CPU. 2.7GHz sounds either budget or old, but what brand and what model.
Make and model of PSU (do NOT just say 400W or something)
Make and model of motherboard (or at least "it has a PCI-E 2.0 16x slot" etc)
Make and model of case
Budget

With the information you have given, I recommend quad SLI GTX 480s. $1500, high quality 1200W PSU, and a quad SLI motherboard required.

Well I don't really know much other than the info I gave, since it isn't mine. But the owner said if i can get updates, go for it. It's a Dell Optiplex 780, stock.

Says you've got a PCI-E x16 2.0 slot, which is great news because it means you can just buy a modern graphics card and stick it in there... assuming your power supply is good enough (which it most likely won't be if you get anything resembling a decent card). A PSU will be $40 or so on top of the graphics card.

If that's not enough info simply say so and we'll go grab you links and shit.

Actually, don't worry about the PSU too much, I'm using a GTX260 with a 550W (LOL!) uber-cheapo PSU and it works wonder after a year and half.

As for that PC... Ewww. If I've read that spec sheet correctly, that PC is running on a 305W (or in the worst case, even 255W) PSU. Oh, the horror.

Ok, it seems the OP will need a new PSU.

All of these are great video cards, but you get what you pay for.

Oh, and remeber, your cpu will bottleneck your graphics card. So, for best results, buy a new cpu or, even better, a new pc.

And I don't recommend more than two graphics cards. 1500 dollars!? Who has that kind of money these days?

Plenty of people it seems. Across forums, I've seen around 30 people asking for advice with that kind of budget over the last 2 weeks. Most just want gaming, but some actually need it for university courses or 3D animation type jobs. I like designing and building such computers, but it's always painful having to let go of the finished product.
