Not completely true. You can get Debug Settings on CEX. DEX allows your PS3 to read game data region free and game disc data region free. Only some games are region free. To play ALL games region free DEX is the option. Also some games don't allow online play if you use a different region game disc. DEX bypasses this.

Of course he's sure. There is NO region lock on any existing game, if you don't count Persona 4 Arena NTSC-J which was later on released in the west.

I see. I may have been misinformed then. I remember when I first installed CFW the guy in my video told me DEX was region-free. Sorry about that. Although I can assure you my information about installing CFW is correct as I have done it many times. Also DEX is useful in general.

Yes. You need a backup manager like multiMAN or WebMAN. I recommend multiMAN. Once you get it open the application type your public IP of the PS3 into Filezilla. Rebug Toolbox has a system info where you can find the IP. Also Rebug Toolbox has a FTP feature.

Yes, I'm currently playing the American version of Trails of Cold Steel II, because I didn't want to give NISA(publisher in Europe) any money. The original disc is working fine and so is is the backup I made on my external drive.

No problem. There is nothing wrong with being wrong occasionally.

Some additional info:
Rebug comes with a config tool that can enable a few nice features. Here are my recommended setting:
SYSTEM MODE: REBUG
XMB OPERATION MODE: RETAIL
DEBUG MENU TYPE: CEX QA (retail)
TOGGLE COBRA MODE: Enabled
TOGGLE PS2 EMULATOR: COBRA (unless you have a release PS3 with PS2 support)
TOGGLE WEBMAN: Enabled

WebMAN is a tool that can mount your backup games from the XMB.
MultiMAN has to be started every time you want to change your game, but has a lot of additional features like a file browser.
