On GBATemp (and almost every single major platform), you can get banned for perfectly valid reasons that you've done on yourself, starting off with a simple warning and multiple infractions causing you to depart by force since it's a constant strain of attacks that aren't normally wanted into these communities. RetroGameTalk decides that was too much for them to decipher, so they decided to gutter it all out with a "Reader Mode" that basically puts the user in time out since, as quoted by the owner of the forum, moderators "literally lack the ability" to kick/ban its users.

To further add salt to the wound, they decided to create a variant of Reader Mode that users can add to themselves called "Away Mode" that serves as the same functionality because they didn't like how they were losing a surge of members when something major happens to their forum.

I could go on and on about the specific intricacies that I have with RGT especially with knowing another person that's been experienced the ins and puts of the sites poor moderation, but I think its safe for me to stop here since not only I normally don't talk about communities like this to an extent, but bringing other drama from other communities is something that's usually a rule. However, being that I've seen users talk about how bad other platforms are in this forum, I thought it would've been okay for me to notify users that RGT isn't a site that you should be investing your time in. There's so much other places for you to get the contents that they host, and there's other communities that are as great as GBATemp's.

So from my point of view...

He joined being a normal Nintendo fan just like most other people. A wonderful one, even.

Then, he discovers the most toxic part of GBATemp, the politics section, and does whatever he did to make people have some opinions regarding him. I can't say for myself since I don't interact with that side of the forum.

He then makes a RetroGameTalk account to talk shit about this site's moderation (when rgt's moderation is as strong as a grain of sand), purposefully hiding the contents that actually got himself in hot water. He succeeds, making people there think that this site actually sucks

Users propose an idea that's about going all in with getting himself banned for good and succeeds, with his last actions taking place from Tuesday.

Successfully gets banned and talks about his success on the other forum.
I don't feel anything, I'm just disappointed with the route he decided to take for himself.
