Didn't you hear Sam Altman

It costs more to feed and clothe and house a human for 20 years than spend some water on a prompt
No shit, but the difference is that providing the necessary needs to raise a human is beneficial, as you will have another person contributing to the development of society.

With AI, you're spending a lot on training and running large systems that consume significant electricity, data center infrastructure, cooling systems, and gallons of water to the point we're in a water crisis. At scale, millions or billions of prompts add up to nontrivial environmental and financial costs.

The new Data Center in Utah is expected to generate and consume more power than the entire state. Now let's be fair and compare the expenses between that and taking care of a human for 20 years EACH

WHY THE FUCK WOULD YOU PISS AT THE SHOP AMFSHYUGHSMUDIFNSDUKGHS
Dude I'm eating
I'm so sorry for the inconvenience, Circo.

Have some extra bacon on the house

water is not consumed, it goes right back into circulation

Well that’s an oversimplification. Water doesn’t just “go right back” in a way that makes its use impact-free

You didn't account for locations of using water. Using large volumes of it in a drought-prone area has a very different impact than using the same amount in a water-rich region. “It circulates” doesn’t solve local scarcity.

Then there are manufacturing costs like capturing, treating, pumping, and cooling water, all require energy and systems that have their own environmental costs.

ideally data centers would be near the great lakes

Then my point has been made.

Then stop talking if you can't bother explaining anymore, let alone write complete sentences with corrected spelling
Me: they should just put data centers next to the great lakes
You: why are you defending this???

This is somehow me not explaining myself. I don't have to explain why data centers are useful - most of them are not used for AI

Over 3,600 to 4,000+ data centers are having AI as the main driving factor for expansion, which will triple demand by 2030, in addition that one-third of global data center operators are running AI training models

https://www.pewresearch.org/short-r..., and where, hubs ideal for further investment.

My question to you now is, what positives are you bullshiting here that somehow are outweighing the cons in your mind??

It's a Yiddish phrase expressing dismay, frustration, or exasperation. It originated in Hebrew and Ancient German, often used in Ashkenazi Jewish speeches

Don't ever correct your elders.

LLM serve as better search engines (for certain tasks) and not bad learning tools

I have been able to get things working I wasn't able to figure out before on my own

it's a way better use of resources than bitcoin mining and I suspect larger benefits will follow after more breakthroughs

You're glossing over the trade-offs and uncertainties that come with that

Cost at scale

Environmental footprint

Latency and reliability constraints

everything has uncertainty

it doesn't mean we should stifle innovation

I bet you can't even tell I made this with AI
