GoldenEye: Source is a total conversion modification of Half-Life 2. It is a fan made artistic recreation, released for free, with only one goal in mind; to bring the memories and experiences from the original GoldenEye64 back to life using Source Technology. We want you to look at this mod and remember the first best multiplayer first-person shooter ever made. We are doing our best to bring in the opinions of the community to create a game that everyone is going to enjoy. But, we are not here to recreate the game exactly how it was in GE64, a lot of things have changed since they first designed that game, mainly in technology and gamers experiences. We are here to take the game even further but at the same time provide a lot of those fun elements that hardcore GE64 fans will enjoy. We've got experienced team members all across the board, from professional level, to amateurs looking to make it into the business working hard to make this dream a reality.

We focus on a daily basis to keep the original feel for the game that we all know and love. Adding new and fun game play features is our secondary mission, along with new maps and weapons that will keep the game feeling new. We do this by getting together with all of our development team, and asking ourselves "What are the things we always wanted to see and do?". This question has come up alot, and we think we are creating and implementing interesting ideas into the mod for fans and gamers to enjoy!

Download link version 4.1 Full Install, 1,2 GB

We are bringing GoldenEye: Source out of Beta status with this update. This is the full installation for players. This installation will remove your existing Beta 4.0 installation if it exists as this update is not compatible with previous versions. Your achievements will be backed up automatically, but we suggest you back them up yourselfs by copying 'gesource/gamestate.txt' to your desktop PRIOR to installation of v4.1! YOU MUST HAVE STEAM AND PURCHASED A SOURCE BASED GAME TO PLAY (not our rules)! HL2 Deathmatch Qualifies (only $4!).

How to install the game

I've heard of this, though I never knew it was such a strong project.

Funny how my friends just mentioned this to me last night after I brought up GoldenEye Wii.

I don't see why someone posts like the whole project is new every time there's a small incremental release. To clear up why this is news, Beta 4.1 (or just v4.1, it seems they've started dropping the Beta tag) was released about half a week ago, which seems to be omitted from the original post.

It dropped the beta because it's out of beta and final.

If you don't know about it at all, it's news to you.

Assuming everybody else knows the same things you do leads to big mistakes.

Is it faithful to the original in that Oddjob is a smaller target than everybody else?

edit: is it also faithful in that Aztec with rocket launchers can reach such a low framerate that the game crashes?

Seems they forgot about Alien Swarm.
Goldeneye Source does not work with the Source SDK version Alien Swarm comes with. It requires one from Orange Box engine or the L4D/L4D2 one.

And the above free version of Half-life 2 Deathmatch won't work as it does not come with Source SDK.

I got Portal for free when Steam for Mac was released. Does that count?

EDIT: Oh, never mind. It doesn't include the SDK.
