Hacking Going to ds menu without taking out the r4?

I know of two ways of getting to the ds main menu(where download play and pictochat is)
-you can use a firmwire as an .nds
-or you could use ysmenu, push start and click the menu

There are some problems with that, the only .nds firmwire I could find is an original. I tried dumping my own firmwire but i don't know how to trun the bin into a nds.
The problem with ysmenu is that it's to complicated, I want a simpler way.
Right now I have the original firmware as _DS_MSHL.nds but it doesn't have the birghtness controls of a ds light.

It's not possible to bypass the R4's autoboot feature, so your only option is the Phat-only firmware.nds file. You'll have to live with a single brightness control.

If you just want brightness control, press L at the game selection screen.

Yasu is actually going to release a .nds file that will bring you to the ds menu and will be posted on the other thread
