Gaming GH5/GH Van Halen: is System Update safe?

Guitar Hero 5 and Van Halen are asking me to perform a system update. Is this safe to run for a homebrewer?

I'm just wondering if it does a full blown Nintendo update, or just updates the one IOS that is needed for music games.

Use Pimp my Wii to install all IOS.

It's only an update to allow the DS connectivity feature in GH5. I haven't had any problems after updating from the disc.

I ran the official update from the Van Halen disc. It ran in about 3-4 seconds, so obviously it only updated the relevant IOS for the game. The update also worked for GH5.

So for anyone else out there who searches this question, it is safe to run the Guitar Hero system updates from the disc on a softmodded system.
