PS1/2 Getting PSX ISO to work?

I have a modded PSX and a couple of ISOs that I downloaded.

When I burn them with Alcohol 120% on the PlayStation setting they seem to load fine (very rarely they'll go to the Memory Card/Cd Player menu) and they seem to play fine, however occasionally they may freeze up.

Is this normal or am I doing it wrong?

The laser is having problems reading the discs. Use a lens cleaner on it. You could try different media as well.
