Android Getting arcade roms to work

I have tried two emulators to get arcade games (neogeo and cps1/cps2) to work, but sadly I have been unable to. Android Arcade tells me it fails to load the rom, and Tiger Arcade just crashes altogether. The roms are from two different (and well-seeded) sources, so that pretty much rules out the possibility of them being the cause.

Anyone got an idea what might be going on?

my only guess would be that the emulator isn't compatible with the format that they are in (like how SNES has .smc, .sfc, etc.)

or you need to change the settings for that particular type of game
