Perhaps he realised his defeat. Maybe he knew that he cannot release a new jailbreak because of copyrighted apple software and now realises that he cannot continue iPhone hacking.... Or maybe he want's to work more on his PS3 Custom Firmware and his hack.

I can see why he did it. There's no point to it anymore. Almost every feature that I jailbroke my old iphones for are now available natively in iOS 4. Unless you're a pirate jailbreaking shouldn't matter to you. Well also if you want to use another carrier, but I'm sure there will be alternatives to that.
