Go here. And on the tab that says "9.2.0 update" follow the instructions. Then follow the rest of the guide. Read everything because you can skip SOME steps.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Also this is in the completely wrong section. It should be moved.

First you need to install 9.2.0 fw as said above , then install menuhax, only in the end you ll be able to install a9lh by following the guide here in the forum

Post this in Flashcarts&CFW section or Homebrew Dev & emulators section imo

Does your 4.5 3DS have the web browser? If you're unsure, what is the full version string in the System Settings (e.g. 4.5.0-0E)?
If you have a web browser, upgrading to 9.2 and using menuhax should be a piece of cake.
If you don't have the web browser, you'll need a DS flashcart that works with your 3DS in order to use MSET. From there, upgrading to 9.2 should be a piece of cake.
If you don't have the web browser nor a DS flashcart, you'll have fewer options. Please let us know.

Thank you! I am on 4.5.0-10E which has the web browser :)

You can use rxTools and update your EmuNAND to the latest version
Cuz rxTools can be launched with the browser IIRC
Or you could install the MSET exploit, that too using the browser

Since you have a web browser, I would recommend following this guide to setup rxTools CFW. When you're done, you can optionally follow the part of the guide titled How to Update your 3DS/2DS to 9.0 or 9.2 in order to be able to cold boot into rxTools emuNAND using menuhax without having to launch the browser each time.

Went the A9LH route..
..all gone well until:

Copying EmuNAND data to SysNAND
Make sure you have restored EmuNAND from emuNAND_original.bin before doing this

  1. Go to "EmuNAND Options" then "Partition Dump...
"SD is not formatted for EmuNand" (and thus failed)

Also in the main menu it shows the SD size " & no emunand"
I did follow the guide and restored emunand (and sysnand)..

Any advice? thanks!

Backup your full sd then use emunand9 to format.

Thats it? .. (A9LH install worked and L+R get me to decrypt9) ...

I tried to load emunand9 from the HBL menu (via sysnand) but it just gives me a red screen at the bottom and kicks me back to HBL menu.. Same happens when i try to select OTP Helper or Decrypt9 via HBL menu... Help

Likely this happens because your sysnand s updated to the latest fw, this means it cannot load arm9 homebrew through the hbl, you should load them up through aureinand payloads , or via ctrbootmanager9
