I noticed that a lot of homebrew games that use data files/folder(s) (maps, tools, etc.) require these in the root folder. This of course gets very cluttered. Though I know that you can hide the files in the R4, I remember seeing someone mention how it would be nicer if the required data files/folders were placed in a standardized folder, i.e. /DATA of /Program Files, or something. It's nothing hard or difficult clearly, we just need a way to get homebrew developers to follow this standard. So good idea or bad idea?

Everyone's waiting for devkitARM r21, when homebrews will support argc/argv.

Then apps will know their working directory, eliminating the need for a standard.

I REALLY don't see a problem with it. Maybe it's because I don't have a lot of 'brew on my cards, but it trully isn't necessary.

Indeed, especially when you can hide files. But hey, you can't argue with tidiness
