im getting a firmware flashed 360 after tomorrow cant wait

i was at eb games the other day and i met some guy who claimed to work in microsoft he told me to prevent the "3 red lights of death" u shudnt plug the 360 into a surge protector seems like. can anyone confirm this if so Microsoft is really making money out of people fixing their 360s for $130 a piece.

Your paying for a firmware flashed 360

I got an compatable SATA PCI adapter and did my own, cost me £10. I could have got someone to do it for me but I look at it this way, if Microsoft ever stop the firmware flashing you need to reflash it or you may have to upgrade it somewhere down the line. You will have to pay again.

I plug my 360 into a surge protector and I have never had a problem.

GT is bTheGuardian and my brothers is The RazerBlader. We're both playing Gears pretty much online non-stop. But I'm getting the Wii with Zelda on Friday

We been playing alot or 4 player co-op story mode on RB6 Vegas if any of you guys are up for it.
Have you all added each other to your lists to get the chain bigger? I've added at least 3 of you but only ever see LegendOfPhil & GbaDoctor online, I mainly play with TmP_stryk ShADyX and D-an-W but am lookin to get a big team up for CoD3 and RB6.

i was under the impression that if you changed the firmware, you couldnt play online?

or atleast you ran the risk of Microsoft blacking you from live

Nope, everything works as it should, all it does is make the xbox think the rw is a retail dvd. Today the v5 of xtreme got released which allows single layer dvds to run too (xbox 1 isos) Xtreme_Firmware_Samsung_v.5.0_XBOX360-iND.
AKAIK, there have been no bans yet over firmware from live... *touches wood*

Yes you need a dual layer burner I use and reccomend the pioneer 111d and verbatim media, seems to be the favourite setup.

AFAIK the only place to get it is xbins on efnet.
www.xbox-scene.com
www.maxconsole.net
have information about it, to flash the drive you will probably need some extra hardware for your PC because the DVD drive is a SATA drive.
You will also need to match up your DVD drive with the correct firmware.
Sorry I can't be much help, I haven't done this.

First thing to do is checkout what drive you have using this:

Make sure you know what model the drive is too.. you can usually tell by the date your machine was manufactured or by the serial number. Next, check your PC has a SATA chipset, even if it does it may not be compatible so run through the guide on http://xbox-scene.com. After that if you feel confident, take out the dvd drive, hook it up to your pc and use the auto flasher app.
Thats it in a nutshell (a very basic nutshell) if you need further help just post here, enough of us have it done to offer good help imo
