I want to host a trial run for a PSN Game night this week, to see if there is enough interest to make this a weekly event. Here's the critical information:

PSN Game Night - Trial Run
Wednesday, August 12th
20:00 UTC
(click here to figure out your time zone)
Starting game is Burnout Paradise, more to follow if wanted.

If you can't make it to this time, don't worry there will be more meetups. Feel free to make suggestions for times and days that are good for you.

I will also set up an IRC chat room so we can all chat even if you don't have a mic, and we can decide on another game if Burnout Paradise gets boring. Channel name will be posted here on Wednesday.

IRC Channel name is #psngamers on irc.gbatemp.net. Check here for IRC info.

Also check out The Big PSN ID List Topic to get everyone added to your friend list early. This will make game matchups much easier and quicker.

Thanks Minox_IX! I'll work on a nice custom logo for the next round.

I'm thinking Fat Princess will be the official game for next week, I'm sure I can get Tempy in there somewhere.

I hope everyone can make it at this time. Be sure to post your PSN ID in this thread (mine is suaav) so everyone can add you as a friend, if you haven't already.

I'll post the channel name on Wednesday morning so we can get chatting and get everything set up.

Front paged. Very nice.

I won't be attending this time around but plan to in the future (if work allows). Hopefully things work out and this becomes a weekly event!

The next time we'll probably have it at a later time, because you're the second Aussie who's expressed interest in joining it.

I was in a DS games night a long while ago and it was 7pm local time but that was a worldwide thing and different regions had different game times. I didnt get to the second round which I think would've been at about 2am local time.

Also as the PS3 is free to play online its preferred over the 360. Another reason why I am interested in this game.

The 360 is the only system which you have to pay to play so its the least preferred. (I brought the system, I brought the games, I brought the DLC now let me play it for free.)

Here's an idea, how about 2 or 3 games. Have the same game but have different timezone games. EG: USA, Europe, Asia. that way everyone can play. then have leaderboards and at the end they all get put together and finally a winner.
Just an idea, I dont want to give you more work. If the way you got is working then thats good. Dont change for 2 of us.

Another problem is some games are region locked so someone here in Aus cant play against someone in USA. (Maybe not the game but the servers are)

I'd love to, but at Wednesday at 9PM for me in the UK...I'll try to come, even if it will only be for half an hour. ID is Livin_in_a_box .

Why don't play Killzone2, Resistance 2 or stuff like that? I own Burnout for my Xbawks so I can't join the GBATemp PS3 greatness.

Mmmm, 'bout time. Not sure if I'll make it to this one because I have a prior engagement, but if it succeeds, then I'll make it to the next one, I swear.

PS, most of you guys probably already have me, but my PSN is Velius0, and I have LBP, KZ2, Warhawk and MGO.

Great ideas, I'm totally down for different time zone meet up times.. if someone else would like to help organize them because honestly I can't spend 12 hours playing the same game. Remember, this is sort of a trial run to see if there's interest in making this a weekly event (seems there is) and we will be playing different games each week. Remember, you can always join in the IRC channel and find someone to play something else with if you don't want to join the main event. I'll probably set up the channel and post the name tomorrow morning when I get up, a few hours before the official start time.

Also, post your PSN IDs here if you want to join in this event, but also post them in the main ID topic (see my sig) if you want to join the main list. Then you can play anytime with anyone.

I'm almost certain that Burnout is not region locked because I've played with people from Europe before. If other games are, then we'll have to do separate gaming days/nights for different regions.

I'd like to host one. maybe we could have multiple on the same night (or spread out) for people in different regions and games. I'd like to host MGS4 maybe...If anyone would be up for it?

A second volunteer to host would be great. I know that for Burnout Paradise the max number of players in a group is 8, so I may need someone else to lead a second group depending on who shows up tomorrow. I'm not expecting much since this is short notice, but for future games I'll need some help.

BTW, I'm sort of hoping this idea takes off on its own, because I don't necessarily want to be the leader each week. Maybe once we have a 'regular' time or day to meet up, someone new can take the reins and manage the games and channel. This way, time zone doesn't matter, we'll just know to meet up on Wednesdays in the channel, see who wants to play what, and go from there. Yay/nay?

Sounds good. If you want a Wednesday games night how about this;

Thursday - trophy night (work out who won. and announce it. Gonna take a little while to get all the leaderboards from all the Wednesday night games from all the regions) (2 servers each region = about 6-10 games? USA east, USA west, Europe, Asia, Australia)
Friday-Sunday - Choose which game and system (Wii, 360, PS3, DS, PSP, PC) Maybe nominate 3 games and let people choose over the weekend.
Mon-Tues - arrange a leader for that region, times etc
Wednesday - GAME ON!

I've been doing charts for all sorts of things this last week so I'm in chart mood. hehehe

You dont have to do it this way but its one way. just trying to help out and make it a worldwide thing.
Gonna take a few weeks to get it all sorted out properly so I dont expect any of this to start anytime soon.

Anyone else want to contribute to this? I might be completely wrong... It's just a thought and probably me rambling on.

The way it's been going is probably good but it looks like its one person doing 1 region. lets make it a worldwide game night.

nice work suaav!! appreciated !!!!
is still hard for me and you to see each other online XD

still dont have burnout, even if i had it im sure i suk!!
so i think i will be in for the next one!! (killzone 2 or Cod4)

Burnout Paradise is one of my favorite games so this sounds great to me!

I don't have a lot of friends on PSN. my PSNID- n8vosburgh

Yeah, Metal Gear is a 16 player limit. Thing is, it won't let me create rooms sometimes because of the 'network environment'. Tch. But I guess I can just get someone else to make it, it doesn't really matter. I can also do LittleBIGPlanet, Battlefield 1943, MotorStorm 2, Burnout Paradise (lol)...Oooh, Guitar Hero: World Tour, though that would be a bit limiting.
