I'm restoring my old GBA SP on the cheap and I currently need to clean off the dried adhesive residue that's right at the center of the display. Would it be possible to hold the front-light with some clear tape on the edges before I get some LOCA later on? Getting an AGS-101 screen is not an option for me as there's no way for me to get the adapter kit where I live. The only ones available here are for the GBA with the single wire to solder.

yes, you can use tape. id use double sided tape and cut it to fit nice. i once used loca on a frontlight mod for the gameboy color. the loca distorted the picture a bit. tiny spotting in some areas of the screen. i set the loca on the wndow, but there was a screen is the window and the little holes. the little holes let the sunlight through. this created the spotting. i later set the gameboy on direct sunlight and the screen cured a bit more and the spotting wasnt as bad.. id go without loca, the nintendo intended.
