You should be good if you are using a Gateway card and not the DSTWO+... Unless there is a bug in the code and randomly trigger for the incorrect reason... I would suggest you to stay away from the update for now until is safe.
Well, I am getting rid of this stupid 2DS soon, so I'll take any risks if any are even present.

By the way guys, they updated their site with instructions on cheat creation/usage.

Gateway is a leecher.
Gateway is a leecher? They did all their own work to find exploits, find 7.x encryption keys, create the MultiROM menu, cheat support etc. It's everyone else who's leeching off them.

Gateway is for piracy. It is leeching resource from the real developers, because any game on the Gateway could be a lose for the real developers of those games.

This happened before, legitimate gateway users received bricks because the brick code was too picky. Errors in writing to the RAM (how many times does a *hax fail due to errors?) Would result in the code being triggered.
