I just ordered a gateway and was wondering what size or cards to get. I understand that .cia files install to the sd card in the 3ds. Most games I will put on that, and run the .3ds files from the red card. What size is recommended?

I don't know about that card specifically but as long as it's formmated correctly for the type of SD card it should be fine.

well i guess it depends on how many games you want to pirate. The biggest SD card you can put in the 3DS is 32 GB i believe, because nintendo doesn't support microSDXC. But the microsd you put in gateway's red/white card can be microsdxc. Personnally i use 32 GB big sd, 64 GB microsd in red card

Guess it all depends on how many games you want to play at a time. I bought a 32GB card for my red card and just replaced the SD card in my 3DS with a 8GB card for now, at least it's better than 4GB.

It's okay but an adapter reduces the speed of the card. And yes, you can use different mSD for the red card.

Personally I have a Kingston mSD 16GB class 10 and a Kingston SD 32GB class 10.

Got a 64GB MicroSD for the red card, and a 64GB MicroSD for my N3DS for CIA installation.

Thomas12345, SDXC cards can be used. They need to be formatted to FAT32.

You can get a cheap mSD for the blue card or simply use the same one that you use for the red card (just a bit more troublesome than having both) if you don't plan on really playing DS games with the blue card. The blue card should be mainly only to install the 4.x exploit anyway

I see. Then it's fine to get an individual mSD card for it. No need to really have a big size since DS roms don't really occupy much space either. lol

Merry Christmas for you as well. :)

@AncientBoi, Yeah, believe you can do PSP games as well. But a Pi5 is much powerful in comparison.

Not sure about other models of Pi4 but the Pi 4 B with 8GBs OCed to 2Ghz handles PSP really great except like 1 game I found and it is playable it just looks bad lol Motor Storm Arctic something or other.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Other games I can have turned up to like 2X and all kinds of enhancements, Motorstorm hmmm nope 1X and no enhancements lol

I will admit that one does seem more interesting than the usual Ambernic ones, and I already liked those.

    I dread the price point.

This looks like one of their premium models, so... $150 :glare:

    To me that seems reasonable.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I mean since basically all the games are errmmm free lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean yeah sure but the specs are the same as a $50 model, it's just those pesky "quality of life" things driving up the price, like an actually working speaker, or buttons that don't melt, and stuff like that.

I think all in my Pi 4 was well north of 200 bucks 150ish for the Pi 4 the case the fancy cooler, then like 70 for the 500GB MicroSD then like 70 for the Xbox controller. But honestly it's a nice set up I really enjoy and to me was worth every penny. (even bought more controllers for 2 or 4 player games.) hmmm have never played any 2 player games yet :(
  • Veho @ Veho:
Yeah that's what I hate about the RPi, it's supposedly $30 or something but it takes an additional $200 of accessories to actually turn it into a working something.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
yes that's the expensive part lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean sure it's flexible and stuff but so is uremum but it's fiddly.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah a lot of it I consider a hobby, using Batocera I am constantly adjusting the collection adding and removing stuff, scraping the artwork. Haven't even started on some music for the theme... Also way down the road I am considering attempting to do a WiiFlow knock off lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I want everything served on a plate plz ktnx, "work" is too much work for me.
  • Veho @ Veho:
Hmm, with that in mind, maybe a complete out-the-box solution with all the games collected, pacthed and optimized for me would be worth $150

Yeah it's all choice and that's a good thing :)
