    I cannot get the gateway menu to open. Please, please help me.

    Are there any specific ways the memory cards need to be formatted?
    I have a 4GB card in the side of the DS with launcher.dat on it.
    I have a 2gb microsd with the wood firmware for the blue card.
    I have another 8gb card with the games in it (only 2 atm on it tho) for the red card.

    Please, someone help....

    *fixed*

    Could someone answer my question about 3ds sav files being compatible between r4i and gateway

    r4 card not found ? O.O what launcher do you have on the sd card ? Because I really doubt gateway calls his card "r4" XDD

    AFAIK the blue card isn't shown on gateway mode. IF you're not seeing the gateway screen even without pressing L , it means you don't have the gateway launcher on the sd card but the r4 one lol... You're going into gateway mode with the r4 launcher that's why it doesn't show the blue card and if you press select says "r4 card not found"

    He's calling "Gateway mode" what any of these flashcard firmwares boot into after launching the exploit. If you're able to press select and see a menu, then you're in "Gateway Mode". Just copy a rom to your Micro SD card, and pop it into the top of your flashcard. The game should show up on the selector.

    I do hope you actually have a "Deluxe" card, and not just a simple DS Flashcard. The one you should use for booting 3DS games is white, not black.

    Please download gateway's blue card files and SD card launcher.dat file.
    don't mix with R4i Deluxe kernels;

    you'd better backup all your files of the memory cards and format,
    then try re-install gateway kernel

    Ok it seems i did mix up the launcher.dat files.

    Does it matter if any of the cards are fat32, fat etc?

    Should i put the Sd card in BEFORE or after setting up the gateway installer from the blue card?

    Do i need to hold L or anything after nintendo ds profile to enter the mode?

    half the time during programming, it stops after halfway..

    I have a r4i deluxe and for my second console i bought a GATEWAY brand card, and the GATEWAY MODE i am referring to is the menu with the gateway logo, ive seen pics o nthe tutorials, theres just mixed instructions ive found and im just lost.

    FEMALE btw.

    for blue card memory card, fat32 is ok;
    don't need hold L ;
    when programming, and it stopped, just press home button, re-install is ok

    Got it. Now can someone please explain to me what emunand is? and my 3sd came with mario kart and i heard u need to use that to reinstall it. i dont wanna mess up anything else, so could some one give me some tips?

    wait... it just had me update my card when i tried to boot into starter mode, or the first mode, and then it had me hit a to continue then i did and then it went to black screen where i had to hold power...

    now when i obot into gateway, the screen comes up for a second, then it automattically boots into the mode where i can pick games with select..... how do i change that from selecting by default?

    There should have been some documents included with the Gateway firmware when you downloaded it. Those should teach you how to properly install Emunand without messing anything up.

    MALE btw.

    Okay, well i have three sav files, i will try isolating them and seeing if i can recover my game...

    About emunand.... i still don't understand exactly wht it is....

    After you update it successfully, you would see your system firmware is already on GW3D V7.1.0-16 now. then you can just do all things like your 3ds console is already on V7.1.0-16.

    Wait, so.... that means you can do what, connect to the internet? Will it ALWAYS be GW firmware? if you take out the SD card does it go back to normal?

    And it formats the card? do i need to back it up again?

    EMUNAND is the emulated NAND. A copy of your system memory running from your SD card. It can be connected to the internet and updated (if you're using Gateway 2.3b).
    You need the SD card in your 3DS and Gateway red cart to use EMUNAND.

    Everytime you shut off your 3DS or reset it (like after leaving System Settings) you'll be out of EMUNAND, and bakc into your original System Memory.
    You'll have to go again to System Settings > Other Settings > Profile > Nintendo DS Profile to get back to EMUNAND.

    I can't seem to get the sav files to work from my r4i card on gateway... I just put them in my root directory of my SD card. Should I have to do anything else?

    I have no idea about save file compatibility, but they can only be there in the big SD's root.

    Yeah.... the save files aren't seeming to recognize.... i am going to try putting launcher.dat from my r4i and see if i can load the files on that starter card, and i guess if it wont load again on the gateway, the files arent compatible...

    Actually, this is not a "newbie forum". There is a specific, stickied thread in this section for people in your exact situation who are setting up new cards for the first time and are having trouble. So that we don't get 85 threads a day about "how to start up gateway" in the front page every day.

    You evidently did not know this and yet you felt like schooling someone else about how this forum is supposed to work, while not even reading the sticky titles as a new member, which takes roughly 8 seconds. Insulting them, as well.

    Now, back to spoonfeeding an ungrateful person who is demanding help while calling people names:
    I would guess (not sure) that your r4i card is based on pre-omega gateway firmware, and you are now installing omega gateway (version 2.0 onwards). If that is the case, saves will be incompatible. I do not follow r4i progress nor do I know what version of r4i firmware you were on, so it's difficult to say.

    r4i saves should be perfectly fine with gateway, only game that ever had save issues was bravely default, just copy all the .sav files from the big SD card on the R4 console to the big SD card in the 3DS with gateway, if you have done that and your still having issues, are you using the same roms that you used with R4, you cant go from say a US rom to a EU rom and take the save with you

    if you can't get them to work on the same rom , I have a question for you. Were these saves created on 4.0b2 ? I'm having a hunch that firmware is going to create conflictive saves

    ED: You didn't have a compatible 3ds on day 30. On only 20 days you have gotten another one then changed flashcard too?

    there shouldnt be any save issues between R4 and gateway....there was only ever 1 game that had incompatible saves, and that was bravely defaulty between 1.2 and 2.0, everything now days should be perfectly fine

    did you happen to trypatch the games for online play, as you cant take a save played on a .3ds rom and play it on a .3dz rom....that may explain your issues
