How do I boot into Gateway Menu (Where I can backup NAND, dump gamecarts, etc)? My N3DS has A9LH and Luma installed. Thoughts and help appreciated [emoji4][emoji4]

If you just want to do those things, get Decrypt9 instead.

But to answer your question, get Gateway's Arm9Loaderhax.bin and Launcher.bin from their site. Then just add arm9loaderhax.bin to your /luma/payloads folder, and rename it to "Down_Gateway.bin" or something similar. That naming would mean the Gateway menu would boot if you hold Down when booting. The launcher goes on the SD root as normal.

Gateway miiiiight have compatibility issues with A9LH V2, but I don't use that so I couldn't tell you... I suppose just try what I said and if it works, be happy? :P

I thought I just had to hold L on boot? I currently have it set for gateway mode by pressing down on boot. Side question, is decrypt9 better for gamecart dumping compared to Gateway method?

Also, what do I need to select for gamecart dumping in decrypt9 to make dump work with Gateway?

If you already have it set up, just boot Gateway without having the Gateway card in. It's much easier than having to hold down for Gateway, then shifting to L before it boots properly.
I'm not sure if Decrypt9 is necessarily better, but I prefer using it. I think it gives you a few extra dumping options too (such as dump to CIA, or dump to trimmed rom).

In terms of dumping personal backups, Decrypt9 isn't any better. However, it's better for dumps that you're planning to mass distribute.

Gateway is unusual here in that it dumps the card with the private header. Decrypt9 dumps without it, and it also clears the save area of the rom on CARD2 games(dunno if GW does this too), therefore it creates a "clean" rom.

Decrypt9 and Hourglass9 (if you don't need all the features of D9) are usually the better tools to use than Gateway's.

I am confused, does gateway create a "clean" rom, or is that decrypt9?

But that's not exactly "clean", since it leaves out data from the cart. However, those features that D9 provides are essential if you want to disassociate your identity from your ROM dumps. That's why I said it's not better than Gateway if you're making personal backups, but it's better if you're creating dumps to mass distribute.

leaving data like this out of the cart is what makes it clean. I usually think it's better this way.

If I dump my own game with decrypt9 when Pokémon SuMo comes out, should PkHex work with it? I thought decrypt9 gets rid of card2 save area. Clarification and thoughts appreciated [emoji4][emoji4]
