Hacking Gateway issues...

Got my gateway cards today, formatted both micro sd cards to fat32 and the other to exfat, also formatted the sd card to fat32. However, when I try to boot the blue card with the blue card files and the sd containing the launch file in the 3ds sd slot, it keeps giving an error and telling me to shut off the 3ds. My firmware is 4.4.0-10u, tried to update the blue card, which didn't work on the 3ds and ds. Any solution besides buying another R4i card.

sure, that you are on 4.X and the 3DS isn't partialy updated? is there a Miiverse icon on the Home Screen?

4.4.0-10u, no miiverse icon. Also, a friend has the same firmware and he managed to install without problems

so does the DS mode flashcard doesn't start up at all or does it crash, when you try to start the GW_INSTALL.nds ?

Doesn't even get to the starting "gateway" screen. The blue card shows on the home menu, the Deep Labrinth game, but gives an error when trying to launch it.

Try and run GW_INSTALLER.NDS again

The error occurs when trying to boot the blue card, so I can't/haven't been able to run gw installer

looks to me like the blue card is faulty... you said, it worked for your friend, can you try his card?

The card works on a regular ds. Obviously, the gw installer fails on it.

if you can't get the blue card to even start up, then it's either an issue with your card or your 3DS
if you say, the card loads up on an old DS, then it might be an issue with your 3DS, try your friends card just to be sure
also, what COULD be an issue, is that the blue card might need an update to work on your 3DS... usually they should work, but maybe you got a very old card with old firmware, I dunno... try updating it on your old DS and then try again on your 3DS

the firmware of the blue card needs to be updated, the only files kae5738 could have used are the ones from the gateway site so there must be some other means to update the blue card

please try using your friends blue card
if it does work, then your card obviously is faulty, I'd send it back


edit: or maybe it can be updated, the thread is confusing to say at least... maybe take a closer look at it, there are also some files uploaded there... can't hurt to give it a try

edit2: yeah, having read the thread more carefully, it does look like it can be updated, so follow the instructions in the before mentioned thread
