Hacking Gateway card useless?

I have Gateway red and blue card from a few years ago. Can you still do anything with them or are they useless now?

pretty much useless, im sure some people probably still use them as they cba transferring all their saves and stuff, but the GW firmware hasn't been updated in a long time

You can use it to play *.3ds files as long as your 3ds console has the right version of firmware that is compatible with the Gateway 3ds. I have my "New" 3DS XL set up so it can use both the Gateway 3ds and *.CIA roms. I haven't messed with this stuff in ages though so I don't remember the specifics. But yeah it's basically for running encrypted ROM files and almost nobody uses it any more.

The red one is useless, but the blue card can be used as an nsd flash card, like the a R4 Card. Just put acecard firmware files on the sdcard and roms.

Bin the red one.
But the blue one, I use it with a 400Gb SD to hold the 6600+ DS games and each one I’ve tried runs perfectly on my 3DS

GW has their own partition on ur sd card all software are installed on SD card

Finally i keep reading about bootstrap vs LUMA 3ds which is best? especially to avoid ban. My steps son want the 3ds so i wanted to get guidance from here. So many guides am so confused... am usually follow videos online

You have a lot of options for installing B9S and Luma3DS. If you don't want to buy a compatible flashcart for ntrboot (if your blue Gateway doesn't work), there are free options here:

Pick an exploit that comports with your system version (or the all versions row). Seedminer is recommended, since it's free and works on the latest version (if you are also on the latest version).

i got the gateway blue card but am on firmware - 4.5.0-10E . It says

I still use it, mainly because I have one + an unused copy of it.
I have an unlinked, offline, emuNAND at the last supported Gateway CFW.

I use my sysNAND with B9S Luma 3DS for games I truly care about.

Gateway is there just as an extra SD slot and a way to play stuff I don't want populating on my sysNAND or don't care installing. I still find it handy but not something I use most times.

It's called pre9otherapp. Your firmware is 4, so you're good to go. Just use that bin file.

Never needed Luma. My Gateway Card runs everything I've ever wanted to play plus it's the best way to utilize cheats.

Not sure what you are asking for. If you are asking me to tell you how to set it up on your unit, you will have to search for what you need to do. I have not touched my setups in around 2 years. They just work. If I recall correctly they are all setup with bootCTR9 and they boot into GW by default and Luma with another button. It's been 2 years since I went through the process to get them running in their current state, so sorry can't tell you steps at this point. Never use Luma anymore I just have a set of SD cards I can swap out between their units in seconds that have all the 3ds games on them. I originally did try using Luma to do more with their setups, but when you are loading games on multiple units and switching game sets when they get bored with them, using CIA's takes forever to copy games over, it's way too cumbersome compared to just swapping a micro sd card.

Actually sthetix is pretty bad with his content, typically missing steps, resulting people bricking their 3ds or non cfw setup etc.
