i just boot to gateway, and it asking me to update ?
is this new ? so i can update the launcher.dat this way ?

That's strange. Are you booted in to the gateway mode? Or is it perhaps the 3DS itself asking you to update ? That would make more sense. I have never heard of the gateway card actually asking you to upgrade (or even upgrading itself in any way, without user interaction / putting new firmware on the card)

If you have WiFi on, try to turn Wifi off and see what happens, if it is still asking you to update.

You probably held R when you booted into gateway menu. It will force prompt an FPGA update.

Yeah, if you're going from Gateway 1.X/2.X to 3.X, you'll have to update your card.
i am using ultra 3.4.1

It updates the programmable CPU on the gateway card. As far as I know it was only used to allow multirom and there have been no further updates. They include the ability to hold R and force an update in case the original update failed, you can unbrick the card.

If it's already been updated, then nothing. It was the fpga update that was required for the multi-rom menu, I think.
