Switch 2 release for 007 First Light gets pushed back again, now set to launch March 2027

The latest game from IO Interactive, 007 First Light launched earlier this year to some pretty positive reception. Originally slated to release on PC, Xbox Series, PS5, and Switch 2, the latter release got pushed back to a Summer 2026 window to allow the team more time to polish the experience. Today IO have released a statement essentially saying they need more time still, with that date again pushed back to March 2027. You can find their full statement below:

IO Interactive said:
Today we would like to provide an update on the Nintendo Switch 2 release of 007 First Light.

We know many of you have been looking forward to experiencing Bond's reimagined origin story on Nintendo Switch 2, and we greatly appreciate your enthusiasm. To ensure we deliver the quality of experience players expect, we have made the decision to delay the release to March 2027, with the exact date to be communicated later. This additional time will go toward polishing the Nintendo Switch 2 performance of the game.

We were thrilled by the positive feedback on 007 First Light at gamescom, and it's a great sign of the progress being made across the whole game as we head toward launch. The same demo will be playable at Tokyo Game Show this week, so please join us there if you would like a hands-on experience. We will share further updates as soon as we are ready. Thank you for your patience, understanding, and continued support.

The game's Switch 2 demo was well-received at gamescom last month, giving fans hope that the final release will be one worth picking up.

I was actually going to purchase this on Switch 2, however ended up getting it on Steam which was the right decision it seems.

Regardless its a really good game and well worth the wait if the Switch 2 is the only way you can play it.

I played some of the missions on my Legion Go (Z1 Extreme), it managed to hold 60fps most of the time in low detail (which to be honest still looked really good on a small screen), hopefully the game will run quite well on the Switch 2 when it does eventually arrive.

What a great ad for the Steam Deck, lol

This is the funny thing as always with nintendo.

Wait longer and pay more for an inferior version.

Or

Wait for its next console to play everything the last gen systems had

And pay full price for it again when you can buy it for a few bob on the systems you already own.

Its time nintendo stops rehashing cheap inferior hardware and start letting us have the option to buy today's games as theyre released.

But we all know they do this to stop sales competition for their same old recycled shite and the Switch 2 is even worse for old recycled shit.

It might as well be called Nintendo RecycleBin.... but then Microsoft probably sue them over copyright for similarity to Winodws RecycleBin.

Switch and switch 2 should only be purchased for couch coop mayhem games, party games, and whatever 2d hd games that are meant to be played portably. Aaa games need a powerful home device that actually shows the beauty and art, instead of low poly stutter fest that nontendo has shown us since the wii

Nobody cares, already got the definitive version on PC.

This is why it's important to own all platforms.
Rather 1 stout iteration of a PC aka something i7 with at least 1070 since it can run, well, next to any and everything one way or another.

Else that's why it's important as a console mfg and a storefront NOT to lag on major titles for over a year.

That's been a thought left in the last gen at best, especially with how things are moving now.

Legion GO is like 3 steem decks fused together in terms of power and infinitely more in overall usability since it actually runs windows.

I said that the entire Switch generation, everytime their fanbase, waited on AAA's.
Just for them to be massively downgrade and still run poorly...

I mean just buy a real system...xbox and playstation are right there, if you don't want to go PC.

My youngest brother who's 33 now, use to buy, every console every generation, and on his 30th birthday we built him a custom PC.

His Switch, XSX, and PS5, have been collecting dust for 3 years....he's upgraded his PC's GPU, and Extended memory and never looked back.

When you own everything, you can see the disconnect and disrespect that Nintendo does with the Switch 1 and definitely the Switch 2.

And when you understand PC, you'll see the real truth about Switch 2.
