Hacking Gateway 3DS problems

Hello!
I run a Nintendo 3DS (not XL) that was bought for my birthday last year and recently I bought a gateway card to go along with it. I followed the video instructions on the downloads page for the gateway up to the point when he clicked on the 'Deep Labyrinth Atlus USA, inc.' I did buy this in England, second hand. Apart from the games the old owner might've installed there is nothing I have put in the 3DS game except the gateway which doesn't seem to work. Sorry for not using technological language, I don't know much about the 3DS. I used to do the same with an r4 on 2 ds lites but this 3DS I have failed :(. When I launched up Deep Labyrinth, this shows up, 'An error has occurred. Press and hold the POWER Button to turn the system off. Please refer to the Operations Manual for details.' After I start up, everything is normal.
But would someone please help me solve this so I can play games on my 3ds? ;D

PS : My SD card for the 3DS is a '2GB SD memory card Toshiba'. I haven't plugged this in to the PC so I haven't touched it yet. Thanks in advanced, and please ask if you need more info. :)

what is your nintendo 3ds version ? (can be found in settings in the top screen bottom right corner what version does it say

Yeah you have no other Choice but to return it. However the gateway 3DS team is working on a 5.x-6.x hack, however theres no ETA so i recommend not updating as they have said they most likely will not get 7.x-8.x hack

I am a noob at this so when is the 6.x hack coming out? Approximately? And will I be able to keep my gateway so I don't have to buy another and upgrade it when it comes out?

Currently theres no estimated time, but considering the amount of work Gateway is doing right now, I'm going to say maybe sometime in 2015 tbh i honestly have know idea and you can check all latest news on there website www.gateway-3ds.com . They say there next focus (what they are working on right now) is the save game system, However Gateway has recently said they have a lot of interesting features planned for release soon, which is why I'm really excited for the next release :D

we have no idea if we will ever be able to play games on anything higher than 5.x... :(
if the 3ds is hacked again, we don't know if gateway will work with it... sorry

Gateway has said they are currently working on 5.x-6.x but they said 7.x-8.x will probably never happen

well like 11 months ago they said this below, but i wouldn't get your hopes up, they haven't really said anything more about it, it is nothing definite... but sure, i hope it happens.
"Are you working on supporting 5.x and 6.x 3DS systems? Yes, we have still not given up hope to support these consoles. But please be patient."

There is no real guarantee there will ever be a hack for 4.x+, another option is selling your current 3DS and buying one that has the 4.x firmware
