Has anyone got a save for 3D Land?

I just want to start with Luigi.

The download section for 3DS saves is empty.

If Gateway ever releases a tool to dump save files from original cartridges, I'll give you mine... sorry.

Isn't that hardware? I don't have it and I'm not planning to buy it... Also in retrospective, "NAND games" (or card2 games) store the save data in the same area as the ROM so it would be easier to dump a save file from those games.

i could give you my own, but there is streetpass info on it.
How do you know that its going to work if you dont have my mii and stuff linked to my console in yours.

The same way a regular physical game will work when booted on another console.

I got it from eshop from that promotion but I don't think you can use the save.
If someone can tell me what number it is I'll post it.

Gateway automatically backs up the save to the 3DS SD card, so it would be no work at all to share a save. If I had a Gateway, I would happily share my save with you, eobb

As far as I know, 3DS saves are locked to the cartridge. The only reason we can exchange Gateway saves is because we all using dumps from the same cartridge, and therefore the saves are compatible.

This would mean that a save dumped from a retail cartridge would be incompatible without further hacking, as it would be from a different cartridge than the gateway ROM.

Hmmm?? Why are you assuming that? I fail to see your logic here. Dumping a save from a cartridge, then putting it on the SD card, what part of this is not making sense for you?

Oh, I see... I didn't know these files only worked for a single cartridge ID or whatever it could be, but is this confirmed?

If I remember, in save method 1 the save data was obfuscated using the cartridge's XOR, but the XOR'ed string was easy to find so you could "decrypt" it, and "re-encrypt" it with another cartridge's XOR.
Nintendo changed this in save method 2.
Can someone confirm, or correct me?

Gateway saves are not XOR'ed, right?
you can share them without need of deciphering the XOR string.
I think the gateway is producing different save file than r4i save dongle.

Too bad we can't buy the cartridge after testing a game, and putting the savegame into the cartridge :(

sorry for my english....i am italian+google traslator

    this is not entirely true:
i tried the procedure and without (press home>X>A)
if you don t change the game, the save remains in the gateway memory even if you do not go out correctly (home>x>a)
i tried with mario 3d land (in the SD the save is at world 2.1), i finish the world 2.4, the game save, and i turn off (without home>x>>a),turn on the 3ds, the save is at world 2.4, the gateway can't restore the old save state in the SD.
    ???????????
the board has realized that it was the most recent the save in the gateway memory in place of the SD???????

    burboss is right.
For example if you let your battery dies, if you launch the same game again it doesn't overwrite the current save on the cart with the one on SD, the save on the card is used.
The transfer from SD to the card is done only if your last played game is not the same as the current one.

If you plan on playing the same game for one week, don't worry about not exiting the game properly every day.
If you want to be safe, before changing a game launch it and exit to home menu (wait a little to give time to transfer the save to SD).

Why wouldn't it? It's the same as giving your cartridge to a friend, it overwrites streetpass data.
