i was going to add some photos to the gateway noob guide but was scared of making a mistake when actually updating that i forgot. Its pretty straightforward + and if you want to bounce anything q's off me as ive done it now thats cool.

Well, I thought to try out 2.0 now... And every time I try to boot Gateway Mode, I get that gray lines hang/crash thing.
And I mean every time. I've tried it literally 20 times now and not once has it worked...

I must be one of the more unluckier ones around here, heh. =P
So... Any ideas as to what I can do? I already tried that "keep the Gateway card out when booting" method to no avail.

hm strange,

i wanted to play zekda on my gateway ( the europe dump) and it just asked for an update ( i am not using emunand). so i guess firmware spoofing isnt working for me ( and i checked if i didn"t use the retail zelda card). anyone else had this problem?

I played zelda lbw for little while without doing emunand etc just replaced 1.2 launcher with 2.0b1 launcher and it worked. It was EU too.

strange, I formatted my 3ds and reinstalled my sd card, but it still asks for a fw update. I am on 4.1.0 and I gonna try Donkey kong country.

edit:
tried DKC , but the firmware spoofing is just broken on 4.1. Gonna use the emunand for now then:D

Why dont you update to 4.5 using cartridge. Saw a post on maxconsole where someone was 4.1 was having problems with beta.

because i setted up and EMUNAND 6.3 and wrote an image of the sd to the computer card en then formatted everything.

for now it doesn't need any updating and it still would work, so i avoid the risk of doing something wrong (and i know, updating to 4.5 can't go wrong, but still)

What did people try to get past the gray bar crash/hang thing when entering Gateway Mode? I simply can't get past it and haven't been able to boot Gateway Mode even once.

alright I got one on order.. A quick question
between both cartridges, is it advisable to have a microsd for each card? and I assume since no multi rom support yet, i should get a few microsd cards to leave individual 3ds roms on? also there are still a few DS roms id like to play on the other cartridge, but the other should be fine to have multiple roms on a single microsd correct?

Another question , If i go into classic mode, and play a new retail game (i.e. zelda retail).. and eventually shut the system off while leaving the retail cartridge in the machine, than turn it on, is there the possible risk of forgetting to switch to classic and accidentally updating the system nand?

Try these things:
1. Try without red card inserted
2. Try formatting 3ds sd card
3. Try running the diagnostic test

Let me know if any of these things help

I already did 1 and 3, but I'll try 2 now. Thanks!
I'm not sure if 2 will have any impact, though. I can't exactly format the NAND partition that was made, and formatting the FAT32 partition won't do much, I think.

OK, try with a new SD card, no emunand, and just the Launcher.dat file on the SD card

No other files on the SD card

little question :
anyone tried a game that allows multiplayer with only one card (single-card multiplayer / local party, like MarioKart 7)
(via download mode) ?

If the 2nd 3ds (without the game) is on lower firmware, does it force to update the firmware too ?
