Don't Worry. We've Got You Covered.

Due to overwhelming demand, we have recently stopped taking pre-orders for the Wii U. Don't worry, because we are now offering PowerUp Rewards members the opportunity to get on a wait list for the new Wii U system. Head to your local store now and talk to a Game Advisor to be added to the list. No deposit required!

While we can't guarantee when your system will be available, we'll send monthly updates to keep you informed of any Wii U developments.* So stay tuned and keep opening those emails. The next one could be your invitation to come pick one up!

Got this in a email from GameStop.

Love how I waltzed into an EBgames (gamestop) a few days ago and got a pre-order like it was nothing. My EBgames being a tiny store in my local mall.
God I love my non-gamer town. No games or systems are ever sold out here.

EDIT: I shouldn't say that. The wii sold out, but practically no one pre-ordered. Every knob just lined up in the cold rain while those (few) of us with pre-orders got our wiis first. Probably same deal for WiiU.

Looks like I can't go into my local GameStop and see if I can move my pre-order from Basic to Deluxe if someone cancelled theirs, as now people on the waiting list will most likely pick it up automatically. Oh well. I should be glad I got a pre-order in the first place.

That's what my town is like. Well, kind of. It's more of an Xbox/PS3 town.

For me, I just went to EB Games on Saturday to buy The Sly Cooper Collection and a 20 point card for PSN and Tales of the Abyss on 3DS, and the guy just asked me if I wanted to pre-order the Wii U 32GB bundle. I said yeah why not.

But I'm not sure if that meant that I pre-ordered one or I was put on the waiting list...

If you put money down, you preordered. If you didn't pay anything, you're on a waiting list.

Sweet, so I should get it on Day 1 right? Or just when they get one for me? I don't do pre-orders.

I would've preordered one in my local toy store if I had the money for it. Hardly anyone preorders stuff there, so I would've been almost sure to get one. And when I say "preorder", it means they put your name on a list and keep one separate for you when they arrive without having to pay up front or anything. I got my Wii this way as well.

Same here. Still, it's no guarantee you'll get your console on day one.

I honestly don't think this is going to be like the Wii where 3 holiday seasons in a row, the console is sold out everywhere. I'm thinking they may have learned from their past mistakes.

True. While I think it will be difficult to get for sometime, it wouldn't be so hard as the wii.

I'm pretty sure Nintendo is only looking at preorders as a minimum.
