Hardware gameshark with gameboy micro

I have an old gameshark that I bought for the sp, (2845 Gameshark karabiner) and when I try to use it, it stays at the gameboy splash screen as if there was no game inserted, I have two identical gamesharks, are they too old? or is there something I'm not doing. (yes, the switch is in the on position, and I have a game inserted, Megaman and Bass).

Help please?

It works. Your gameshark contacts are probably not touching the GBM.

If your having issues getting it to boot into the gameshark, you might have to remove the cover off it so the contacts will touch properly. like this:
