Which Games keep thier consoles relevant ?
I can think of Goldeneye 64 for the N64 (duh) because this Game does not run perfectly in emulators.
Or Super Smash Bros Melee for Gamecube/Wii because these are the most reliable to play on for hardcore players.

I mean, I can thinks of games that were left on that console and never came out remastered or even received a sequel.
NES - Tetris still played competitively
Wii - the only place to play Skyward Sword
Wii U - Until Mario Maker 2 Came out Mario Maker kept this console alive, now maybe for Mario 3D World and Zelda Remasters
Ps/ps1 - In general there was an experimentation with both, and many games on both these platforms remain exclusive to this era.
Snes - Secret of Mana (Remake is garbage), FX chip games
PSP - Persona games, Final Fantasy VII Crisis Core
PsVita - early games like Tear Away, Gravity Rush, Persona 4 Golden(now on steam)
GBA - just everything, GBA is Great Mario Games from the SNES, Final Fantasy games... ETC.

it barely can run on original hardware, of course its not gonna emulate well. to answer your actual question, mkwii still has an extremely active community

Did Goldeneye keep it relevant even during the N64? Most around me only went back to it after we rinsed Perfect Dark and wanted something similar but a little bit different, and then the lack of AI players and customisation meant people went crawling back to Perfect Dark before long. Then the XBLA version appeared and all bets were off there, though by that point Halo had taught the world that health recharging and two weapons was the way forward.

I am sure you can find a speedrunner or two but that can be said for just about anything.

It's mostly just nostalgia glasses, people remember Goldeneye as some kind of amazing multiplayer FPS on the N64...even though Perfect Dark was superior in basically every way.

Anyways, you can just list pretty much any major console exclusive you like really, it's the only real reason to play on XYZ console (purely from a "gamer" perspective, ignoring things like "all my friends bought X!" and fanboyism) that keeps old ones alive, excluding emulation.

But to be more specific: Panzer Dragoon Saga. The only Panzer Dragoon game that (IMO) we'll probably never see elsewhere (fucking shit Sega losing source code, I doubt anyone will want to remake the game from scratch), and Saturn emulation still sucks (for the most part) so having a physical Saturn console is pretty much the only "good" way to play the game. Excellent JRPG for the time, and it's aged quite well (ignoring things like graphical fidelity). If you happen to have a Saturn, or see one for cheap, I strongly recommend picking one up along with a modchip so you can enjoy this classic.
