I hope the copies are marked somehow, afterall, they could score Astronomical prices on E-Bay.

They'll most likely have original covers, no code bar at the back, etc...
If they just released a normal copy of the game, exactly like the ones that are going for sale it wouldn't be as exciting to scavenge hunt. =3

It would be pretty unfunny.

The lucky "finders-keepers" of the first copies wouldn't be able to get online and perform d*ck on d*ck rubbing action, marvelling at their immense levels of Win and Luck.

They got the game for free its not like they were cheated out of the online. I think it would be pretty amussing to see their faces as they track down the weather balloons to find the most barebones copies possible. Maybe something like the Halo Reach Beta disks Microsoft gave out to people to test the new dis format and dashboard.

Speaking of which I still have yet to reedem my free downloadable copy MS gave me to replace this disk. Anyone know if those things expire?

This doesn't look like it will end well.

I see dozens of broken copies of Mass Effect 3 and at least one fatality caused by a game falling from the sky and killing some poor man.

Inb4 it's a limited edition and people are willing to pay $1000 for a copy since it's limited edition! Also Mass f'ing Effect 3!


ps. Pre-order for the collector's edition already payed. Now if I'd just finish ME1 and I could get on with ME2.. Damn PC/360 limitation on ME1.. Otherwise I'd have already played it through a long time ago.. :I

OK, so now that I actually read what this story was about, I can only see this ending one way (in America, I don't have any stereotypes for you other countries): A horde of guys in flannel and pickup trucks going after the signal like Storm Chasers, who then group under the 'landing site' like a bunch of UFO conspiracy-theory freaks. The game lands and someone gets their head blown off with a shotgun (if the police don't show up to break up the gathering first).

Less popular is the same gimmick played for the release of Sega's Infinite Space 2, which amounts to me, alone, chasing the low hanging fruit until I stumble into a river and die.
