I would highly recommend New Super Mario Bros. and Super Mario 64 DS.

Anyway, most of what these people reccomend are great games.
Super princess peach is a really nice platformer so I reccomend that.
Puzzle games on the DS are great. Planet Puzzle League and Meteos give loads of fun time.
DQ Joker: Monsters might be nice for her too. LoZ and Tingle's games might be a good thing to try.

This isn't probably the best place to ask this question, but on an off-topic, is Super Princess Peach actually a good game? Playing with Peach unlike Mario kinda stirs me away

My wife enjoyed Super Princess Peach, and also recently, Drawn 2 Life! Naturally, Tetris is always a winner too, and one more to try would be Mario and Donkey Kong 2: March of the Minis.

Well, there's also Animal Crossing.
And like someone mentioned earlier, Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo Tales. I really liked that game

Especially the pop-up card duels.

My girlfriend stole my DS for a week just to play Professor Layton. She loved it - said it was one of her favorites of all time. Now she's getting hooked on Hotel Dusk. Soon it's going to be time to buy her a DS of her own.
