Hello! So, I had an issue with my black GC controller, in that when I tried to play melee with it, it kept shielding by itself, making the game unplayable.
I downloaded a homebrew gamecube controller tester for Wii, and confirmed that the right trigger is activated to approximately ~170 out of 220 on the analog slider. The digital right trigger button is not pressing itself automatically.
I took the controller apart, and cleaned the contacts circled in red with isopropyl alcohol. I also disassembled the right trigger module further, and cleaned around the inside a little bit with alcohol as well. There didn't appear to be any foreign objects or obvious issues with the right trigger module.
I also plugged the top half of the controller into the console without the shoulders being connected at all, to rule out major issues like PCB shorts. There was no analog shoulder activation at all when the shoulder button is physically removed.
Any ideas on what I can do next to try to resolve this issue?
