I would love to see a remake of Resident Evil 2 in 3D. If Capcom redid the gameplay to be play more like 4 and 5 with over the shoulder perspective and better voice acting and graphics, it would be an automatic buy for me. They've already ported it to so many consoles the time for a remake is now.
Fuck that. 4 and 5 shouldn't have even been called Resident Evil games because they significantly changed the gameplay, changed the entire way it is meant to be played, and went with grotesque images over atmosphere, they ended the (coherent) storyline before RE4 took place, and there wasn't a single damn zombie in the games. RE2 was just about perfect as is. Don't bastardize it by forcing the new "RE" style into a classic on the survival horror genre.

While your opinion is valid, don't dis others' opinions. "Resident Evil" simply refers to the plot, which is still very apparent in 4 and 5 (more so in 5). The gameplay is so refined as well as the voice acting, this is true. The majority of people like the new gameplay style and atmosphere that you claimed isn't there. 5 didn't have the atmosphere as much as 4, but it is there. Revelations is looking to bring back that horrific atmosphere that made the game chilling and the way they implement the 3D could enhance that experience.
I didn't say there was no atmosphere, but it has completely changed. To make a heap of changes like that, but then call the game by the same title was a little unsettling for a long-time fan of the series. Playing RE4 for the first time, it felt like I went to the store and picked up a box labled "Graham Crackers", and after purchasing it, getting it home, and opening it, I find fruit snacks inside. Sure I enjoying RE4 a little bit, but when I picked up 'Resident Evil' 4, I expected a Resident Evil game, and that wasn't at all what I felt I had received. They had built up familiarity with a style of their game (and used it for RE 0, 1, 2, 3, Code Veronica, Outbreak 1 & 2, etc.) and then completely changed it, but called it by the same name. Sparse yet diverse enemies, little health, and even rarer ammunition combined with a sprawling and memorably detailed landscape (that will be revisited several times) with great atmospheric, dramatic music, a decent storyline, and zombies, is how a RE game should be, and how RE2 should stay. It's a classic. It practically legitimized the 'survival horror' genre.
Look man, I've played them all and you can't argue that the controls and camera perspective don't need to be redone. What worked 15 years ago just doesn't now. I agree that RE5 especially lacked the tension and atmosphere of earlier titles, but the camera doesn't bastardize the gameplay. You could still leave it as less shooter oriented and with less ammo, etc. It would be like what MGS3: Subsistence was to Snake Eater; same type of game, new way to play it.

I'd say the best way to solve the Resident Evil issue would be this - offer three camera modes.

Classic - fixed camera angles, just like the good old days.
RE3.5 - fixed camera angles, aim button shifts to over the shoulder.
RE4 - over the shoulder camera, for that next gen feel.

I'm pretty sure the 3DS could handle that and I was extremely annoyed when RE1 got a Gamecube remake but neither RE2 nor RE3 did. If they could get 3DS remakes, I'd be very happy indeed. Aside from Resident Evil, an Eternal Darkness remake with upgraded graphics and new 3D sanity effects would be amazing.

I too am a long time fan. Remember this: It is impossible too change a game that already exists. However, to make a new game by mixing preexisting formulas and formats is something that can be done, will be done, and should be done.

2 and 3 did get ported with higher res backgrounds and characters, but they do deserve a proper remake.

Was nowhere near as noticeable as REmake was, though. That thing was an incredibly good remake in every way. New areas, greatly improved graphics and localisation, vastly improved gameplay and rewritten lore to account for things that showed up in later titles. Capcom left me disappointed after RE2 and RE3 were simply ported over with only minor improvements, rather than what the games deserved. As much as I think RE4 is one of the greatest games ever made, RE2 is the best Resident Evil game. It deserved that remake more than RE1 did.

Mah boi, I'd like the Zelda CD-i games remade. Seriously. They're overly bashed and are actually quite solid games aside from the terrible cutscenes. Unfortunately, CD-i emulation doesn't really exist because there are about 2 games worth playing, the first two Zeldas. The third one is absolutely awful, but the first two are actually good. Not amazing, but good and enjoyable.

I agree, but Capcom will probably have to go only one way or the other. Then again, with RE:DS they showed they were willing to make more than one version of the same game on one cart.

REmake was hands-down the scariest in the franchise, and I think that Capcom alleviated the worst of the problems with the old game in it. I agree that RE2 was the best game in the series, but RE4 had more effect on gaming as a whole. Still, RE2 is my favorite from the PS1 era, and remaking it would be the best thing Capcom could do for longtime fans. It was much more complex of a game compared to RE1 and merits better treatment. Leon is my fav from the games and the fact that Redfield has once again become the leading man is disappointing.

Warioland 4 (i loved it
biggrin.gif
)
Pokemon ruby/sapphire/emerald (no matter what people say, I actually enjoyed it)

you mean you want them on virtual console?

i meant games remade from n64 and gamecube, not gameboy!

i'd also like to see wwf no mercy remade!

that game kicked ASS!!!
Oh I didn't mean ports I meant just complete remakes graphically and all.
I never owned a n64 or anything so I don't know about that stuff but in that case;
Super smash bros. (could do with more characters now though.)

This will happen after the sixth generation.

I would be crying tears of joy if I saw all the good N64 games on it. Imagine Donkey Kong 64, Jet force Gemini and maybe a Banjo game, to name a few
smile.gif

I'd like to see remakes of...

Ocarina of Time
Majora's Mask
Yoshi's Story
Pokemon Snap
Pokemon Stadium
Donkey Kong 64
Quest 64
Super Smash Bros.
Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards
Mario Kart 64
StarFox 64
Wave Race 64
MegaMan 64
Pokemon Puzzle League
Hey You, Pikachu!

...and the Earthbound 64 that never was.

maybe a Banjo game
Maybe not. Microsoft has copyright to that now. Seeing a remake of that on the 3DS is as likely as seeing it on the Wii's Virtual Console.
