the 'recovery disc' would be any disc you have that has been made to autoboot, so just the auto boot wadmanager would be the one to use for the freeze on health screen brick

Currently only discs will work are autoboot patched, clean (no trucha sign) twilight princess copy and the copies of official nintendo maintenance disks (one is that has the pink fish on it). This are for the modded wii, if your wii is not modded then the only option is maintenance disks. In that case noone knows if they will be useful at all.

With Starfall, you can autoboot any official Nintendo Wii Game.

Doesnt boot Gamecube games though.

So if you wanted to boot up SSB:Brawl without having to navigate to the menu, just insert a gamecube controller as player 1, hold down the " Y " button, and power on the Wii and insert the disc and it will autoboot.

Im not so sure the dongle would do the same thing as in Starfall because in Starfall, there are different settings regarding "Maintenance" discs.

Well the case was for already bricked wii with no installed starfall. And in the brick scenario any game disc except TP (with some strings attached) will not be useful at all.

Well with the dongle, we have no proof if it can autoboot a legit copy of Twilight Princess.

The vid ends with just the recovery menu showing the Wii system version at the lower right hand corner.

It won't boot non-autoboot discs but it WILL install their updates. If you have a bad system menu version (semibrick turned full brick, that is, Opera 404 on boot) and no modchip, you can wait until a newer version comes out on a retail game, buy it, put this in, insert the game. It'll install the updates and then halt because it's not autoboot.

If you screwed up something else, like a bad banner brick, then you really do need a modchip. If you have no tphack installed and 3.3 or newer, then you're screwed. If you have the tphack or 3.2 or older then you can fix it.

it would useful indead. but again, i am still wondering if i had the twilight hack still on my wii and still i would need both this thing and the modchip i wanted to have it working again... (still no mail back from big N, mailed directly to the technical service)

Well this is the answer to your question : "It won't boot non-autoboot discs"
You need to patch the TP game as autoboot and if the twilight hack save in your wii then you are good. For the autoboot patched TP game to work of course you need to have a modchip.
