Hacking From SuperCard CF to R4? (.sav)

Before my Supercard CF broke on me, I was a pro at Mario Kart DS and EBA. I had some important save files from those games and I was wondering if it's possible to recover them and use them on my R4? If yes, is it as simple as just copying the .sav or do I have to convert them? Has anyone done this before? Thanks!
