well, it seems you are very true, i just did a search on google, and i found that it's not the original SSBB that can be used on Wiikey, but the copy of it, on a PAL Wii as well..... (my mistake)

by the way, who cares about the original, since you can wait 1 week for it to be downloaded?

*offtopic: i want to install a wiikey on my Wii but i have no idea how to solder the tiny points on the Wii (i can only solder the bigger points on Wiikey), looking forward to "Wii-clip" or "Wlip" things, if anyone can help, sent me a message...*

Works for me with Smash Bros.

One thing I will say though, is my modified copy gave me a black screen.

I believe that was due to me patching the resolutions from NTSC-PAL.

Had to burn a new untouched copy of Smash Bros, and it's now working perfect in 480p (no need to set Wii to 480i first).

Popping freeloader in for 2 secs > Setting Wii to 480i everytime I want to play IMO. Mainly because I forget to put the Wii back to 480p after play heh.

Here's my experience

Put the dvd in the wii
It made strange waves on my wii channel and then the GC logo appeared
I launched it and then I got a black screen

It is normal?

Does it play backups or only original?

That questions been asked a few times.

You don't play the disc, let the screen make the waves, then eject the disc and put your game in.

I'm from Bordeaux btw

If I find some DVD RW, I'll try launching the game using the freeloader... I wonder what will happen when I use the PAL freeloader on my US wii

On hacken I found this... I believe it's from the Freeloader manual:

QUOTE(Freeloader Manual?) said:
Game Upgrades
Most game disks have an upgrade program which is loaded before the game application itself. The purpose of the upgrade program is to update your console, where necessary, with new firmware modules. When loading a game from another region on your console this upgrade program may have unpredictable results if loaded. Freeloader for Wii will prevent this upgrade program from being loaded and will only load the main game application. A number of games will not function unless the upgrade program has first been loaded and so Freeloader has an alternate, selective load method for these games.

Alternate selective load method? Never heard of this... I've only heard that SSBB doesn't work if the 15% trick/Truchapatched is not done...

Maybe it's something that got lost in the cracking of Freeloader?

that selective load method consists in letting the freeloader flash the screen, eject it, insert it again, letting it flash the screen a second time, and then, it'll launch the game without updating

edit: tested it with a burnt version of the freeloader, didn't work (not a DL dvd reading issue, since I can play a burnt DVD9 jpn copy)

katsuce: You've got it the wrong way around. Loading it once skips the update, loading it twice allows you to install the update.

Just do the following:
- Insert Freeloader, let it load
- Eject Freeloader
- Insert Freeloader, let it load (again)
- Eject Freeloader
- Insert Brawl
- Accept the update (I was on 3.2E)
( Wii reboots )
- Insert Freeloader
- Eject Freeloader
- Insert Brawl
( Enjoy :] )

ps: you just need to insert freeloader two times before the update; after that you just inser freeloader 1 time

And after that (double swap then update) what happens if you put SSBB in first (with unpatched update)? Does it ask to update?

I'm just wondering if it behaves like the 15% trick or more like a patched update.

When I load freeloader and than insert SSBB... all the white colors became red? How can I change it?

If you are using scart it doesn't work correctly because its a European connector and not native to NTSC Wii.

S-Video may work, but I'm not sure anyone has tested it yet.

That seems a bit complicated...
