Free Radical, english game developer, owner of the Time Splitters franchise and more recently, Haze, closed it's doors today. Employees found their offices in Nottingham locked this morning and the suspicious was confirmed. Free Radical is no more

Free Radical's last game, Haze, was widely received as a mediocre game, but the company was working on a follow up for their popular TimeSplitters franchise and rumored to be working on a Star Wars: Battlefront game for LucasArts.

Sources say that the company recently lost the development deal for the LucasArts project, something that could have led to this end of year shut down.

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck.

TimeSplitters was an awesome series, with even better multiplayer. If memory serves, they were also working on a game for another company too. Hopefully they're picked up somewhere else, 'cause it'd be a shame if they all die off, leaving their game style (Goldeneye everywhere) to the dirt. If so, let's not hope they go the route of Rare and deserve to be put out.

Aww shit.

A valuable post of the utmost quality. This thread could not exist if it was not for that comment.

Back to reality

It is a shame that Free Radical just all of a sudden dropped the bomb. Timesplitters is probably one of the only few FPS's that I enjoyed playing through, and the only one my wife would play with me. They will be missed

That sucks really hard.. The Timesplitters games were awesome, and I was really looking forward to Timesplitters 4.

Now Rare has to become good again

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

:'( Goodbye TimeSplitters 4 and Star Wars Battlefront 3.
I'm assuming Battlefront 3 will be finished by another team or LucasArts itself, but TimeSplitters 4? Damn the recession

Damn, while I could not care less about timesplitters (tried it many times without success) I did quite like Second Sight which I believe they also did.

Dang, was really looking forward to the next timesplitters for the Wii. Would give the Conduit a run for its money. Good graphics or not.

Oh well, hopefully the timesplitters team will get picked up by someone.
