then no choice other than waiting for MS to add Steam/Epic/GOG to the xbox consoles
Vavle's Steam Machine, due out in the first quarter of 2026, may be an option if you want to play games from all those stores on a "console-like" device hooked up to your TV:

https://www.gamespot.com/articles/steam-machine-release-date-price-everything-we-know/1100-6536286/

Edit: Just out of curiosity, I checked XBDeals to see if there's any 100% off games. It found a few:

https://xbdeals.net/us-store/discou...=bundles&minDiscount=100&discountType=regular

None of them seem like temporary price cuts, but they're all games that had a price at one point that are now free.

A number are F2P titles, or the first "episode" in a larger game, but there's a few that look like small indie games that may be fun to try out:

Inops

PING REDUX
https://www.xbox.com/en-us/games/store/ping-redux/btcrq7v311bm

Tech Glitch

FuzzBall

Inops and PING REDUX are also available on Steam for free.

Supposedly MS is bringing Steam to Xbox consoles in 2026, leaked photos show the icon on the Xbox UI/ and presumably for ROG Ally also. And I would not pay the price Steam is gonna ask, for an underpowered PC.

The ROG Ally can run Steam now, because it's a Windows PC, not an Xbox console. MS really messed up the naming there.

As for the Xbox UI "leak," from what I can find, people started speculating wildly once the Xbox app on Windows started showing Steam games in its UI. But listing PC games installed on a PC from another game store is very different than allowing Steam on an Xbox console.

And you can already run steam games on Xbox using the Edge browser, or Gforce cloud app, but they talking of adding a native app to the Xbox UI on console also. Ofcourse it has not been officially announced yet. Fingers crossed, cause my SeriesX have been my favorite gaming system, 4 generations of Xbox games, dev mode with (retroarch Wii/Gamecube PS1/2, etc) - all on one console, and if they add native Steam app, would be a gamers dream machine.

Right, I just don't find the current "evidence" of this particularly persuasive. It so far reads more like wishful thinking than any legitimate leak of something actually in the works.
