How long do you use it ? I have an unpatched V1 and just read that jig damages contact after a few years

it safe to use ?

Using paperclips and/or wire to short out the second JoyCon rail felt too risky for me, as one nudge can bridge the others next to it if you don't have the steady hand. I prefer using a pre-built jig because the contacts are lined up perfectly, plus you don't add too much wear and tear.

Using a prebuild jig shouldn't cause any harm, considering that if you leave your switch on rest mode you dont need to use the jig at all after it, unless you power off your switch

Buy a dirt cheap rail replacement from china and put it away and jig as much as you want. Should anything happen you just replace the rail.

It's safe? I just read that it corrupts some boot partitions and not recommended charge battery in rcm mode
Yes, AutoRCM corrupts intentionally to force it to boot in RCM mode, but it does so in a specific way that can be reverted by disabling it (or by restoring a backup, or simply updating OFW normally).

Not sure why charging the battery in RCM mode is not recommended, I guess it might lose sync? But it should never be left in RCM for long anyway, just inject the payload (and power off from Hekate if the console will go unused for a long period).

The only reason its not recommend to charge while in rcm is cause in rcm, it does a trickle charge. charging for bout 1hr, you'll charge roughly 5%.

Also don't need to power off from hekate if storing it for long periods. You can shut it down from HOS and it'll properly shut down just like in hekate

I've been using a launch model I got on launch day right up until the Switch 2 came out and used a 3D printed jig with single core copper wire pulled out of a Ethernet cable. Never had issues with it.

(the wire was stiff enough that I was even able to give them a smooth shape at the tip to ensure it doesn't scratch/damage the contacts)

Charging in RCM mode only support slow charging.
Only if you boot into CFW/OFW you get fast charging.

I tried AutoRCM for a short time. Too often I'd go to my Switch to find the battery flat because it didn't actually turn off when I intended. Stopped using it after that. I do not recommend AutoRCM unless you intend to have your Switch turned on 24/7. otherwise expect to turn it on one day and find the battery completely flat one day and having to slow charge it for 30min+ before you can get it out of autorcm and into CFW/OFW.

The flat battery can also happen with AutoRCM off, if the console is left in sleep mode for a long time. I usually power off from Hekate when I want to make sure it's truly off, but apparenly that's not even needed nowadays. Or just leave it docked while not in use.
