There's a FAQ now and a new video

QUOTE said:
1. What does it do?
> It tricks the Wii into thinking that FlatMii is the DVD drive.

2. What's so special about it?
> It has a builtin USB connector so you can stream your Wii ISO files to the Wii by using a PC.

3. If I install FlatMii, can I still use my DVD drive?
> Yes. There are two ways to install FlatMii, you can keep your drive and have FlatMii working at the same time or you can install FlatMii standalone which doesnt require a drive.

4. Do problematic games like SMG and SSBB work?
> SMG and SSBB are fully supported. Since FlatMii is not a modchip it will not get detected, and most SSBB issues are about the lens which FlatMii obviously does not have

5. If I install FlatMii, can I also play copied games on disc?
> Unfortunately you cannot. However, it's fully compatible with all drivechips.

6. Can I play my backups from any region?
> Partially. It gives you the same region-free options like any other modchip. However, using Gecko OS or by changing your Wii's region you can play everything.

7. Can I use trucha-signed ISOs?
> That depends on the version of your system menu and IOS. We recommend you do not update for this reason.
However, if you did update, you can either downgrade or use Gecko OS.

8. Are GameCube games supported?
> Yes they are. In fact you can create a huge multi-iso GC disc with all your games, since there is no file size limit

9. How about homebrew software like MPlayer and other homebrew that uses discs?
> They have all been reported working.

10. If I turn off the software, can I turn it on later and resume gameplay?
> Yes you can. Check out this video:

11. What platforms does FlatMii currently support?
> To be updated

12. What do I need to install FlatMii?
> A triwing, a normal X-shaped screwdriver, electrical tape, double sided tape, a pair of hands and a brain.

13. Can this be blocked by Nintendo?
> Very unlikely. It spoofs itself as a normal drive and it does not require you to install any homebrew software. FlatMii is not exploiting any bug, it's just pure emulation.

14. Okay okay, sounds great, where can I buy it and what's the price?
> To be updated

15. Are there any speed issues?
> Not if you use a fast PC, make sure your computer supports USB 2.0.

16. I'd like to become a FlatMii reseller, how can I stock them?
> Check out http://www.flatmii.com

surly they would have some sort of on the fly region patching from their software on the pc

the guy is obviously reading here he now has everything on screen

now that new video looks real!

this is great, if only you could hook an external hard drive instead of a PC and pick the iso you want...I am not sure how this could be done from within the wii interface though...

I hope DealExtreme gets this, it looks real now, he put everything on screen, and never touched the Wii drive.

I wonder when it will be released...

this is seeming more and more legit if it had a external install method i'd get one.
i think the wii isn't far off from having a hd loader like app if flatmii isn't evidence enough.
also it seems to emulate the disk drive from the pc and from the looks of it might need a original disk in the drive to work.(not that that's a problem most my games are retail but won't that still burn out the disk drive over time?).

EDIT:nvm this answers my qthought about the need a dvd in the drive thing.

i see this as useful for ppl who have broken dvd drives or dead drive lasers.

If this piece of hard/software is no joke, and it'll get released, i will point at you for months and laugh hard.

Seriously: Looks real, and I really hope it is. It would be so damn cool to stream isos from the hard drive. No more DRE, no more laser cleaning.

It can't play copied discs, but it can play backups from any region partially?

Isn't this a contradiction?

But, to say, i do hope it comes out

Just i don't like streaming, you need a pc near your Wii, so i preffer my modchip

this looks real. basicly, you get the wire which would have connected the drive to the wii, and turn it into a usb, which goes into your computer... which pretends to be the drive.

so simple, why did no-one think of this before? lol

In their website.
Arm, it's not about looks, it's getting the point through, even though that's kinda ridiculous...

your neglecting one very big point, on the fly patching can do what the mod does, but that doesnt work for all games
some need to be patched in main.dol, remember this is in a signed section of the disk that would ABSOLUTELY require use of the trucha bug, if this device is real, it is still going to have all of the limitations of a regular drive that is modded.... why? because it emulates the drive, its not modifying ios's to allow you to do things any other way

well the new video looks very real. this would be very uber! i wonder if gamma would work with it installed. i would volunteer for some beta testing lol!!
