N-no guys, you really don't have to code this stuff in along the lines of "if you hit the space bar, all is well!" - it was probably some memory glitch that recalled the password that was already saved on the system because a space is not an expected symbol in the string. It wasn't a backdoor, it was clearly a glitch, don't weave conspiracy theories, that would be the dumbest backdoor routine in the world.

Since the wiiu isn't yet hacked...can we now safely say that it is NOT a kiddy console? ;)

Well, joking aside, it was indeed hacked a bit (and there were progress made on the Wii U mode, besides games can be dumped), but the exploits were not revealed... yet. It would kill the console, that's for sure.

About this.. yet another display of Microsoft's coding genius, it's not like it hasn't happened before. Remember Windows 95/98/2000/ME's login passwords? Where sometimes simply pressing "cancel", or other times opening the help viewer (after trying to print the info-bubbles that appear on the login prompt) and then using the "open" to basically open explorer.exe can bypass the password system?

My Fav was not requiring a password for the admin account in Windows 2000 server.
Wow !
That was fun.
Really helped our #movies-first IRC channel. We would have had hundreds less iroffer bots running without that M$ gaff.

Bring Back http://iroffer.org/ !!! (website still up).

Those were the good ol days.

Rooting University Servers to get the T3 bandwidth.
Uncapping cable modems.

Miss those days.

You'd probably go to jail for that shit now.

Yeah. My brother n i found this ages ago n Microsoft ignored us. Either Microsoft didn't believe us or took a kid spending his dad's money to do anything about it. In which case the free stuff was an apologise for the kid spending his dad's money.

Its... Its bad that its getting patched? What?
And sure it may be a little careless, but its a simple bug they immediately responded too..? Wow Xbox is terribad for taking care of their platform :|

I agree even Nintendo isn't that careless but then again i'm loving how emu nand easily bypasses updates :)

The reason why Nintendo's accounts are more secure than Xbox Live ones is because they don't even have an account system in 2014. ;O;

I don't mean to be rude but coughs Nintendo Network Accounts
*Cough cough* Last time I booted my 3DS, we were still using Friend Codes, hmm? :) The whole NNID part of the system is completely downplayed - it's mostly used for MiiVerse and the wallet, not for online play. Not only that, as far as I know, purchases are still tied to the system instead of the "account", so what good is the account anyways? I still have to go through the trouble of exchanging lenghty Friend Codes just to register someone on my Friends List, so moot point is moot. Also, a joke - entertain it. ;)

I don't think those really count considering nothing is attached to them other then your console and whatever money you have. Otherwise any games or data you have isn't tied to it, which completely defeats the purpose of the account :|

I have two Nintendo Network ID's on my Wii U because I forgot the password to my first NNID & already purchased games using the first account so because I had no way to get the password do to a mistake in my info I was going to delete the account & use the 2nd NNID instead & when I was about to hit delete it said if I deleted the account then the games would also disappear so the games are tied to NNID I also recall someone saying the exact same thing in one of the 3DS forums

This means they have a backdoor to everyone's account, pretty much ever xbox employee would know about this...
What if this is the case for other microsoft services?
Someone will find out their new method and not report it to microsoft, what happens then?
My thoughts exactly. And this backdoor have been implemented since god knows when. Who knows how many people have already taken advantage of this.
