p.s. im also having trouble gettings its "N" (NTRBOOT) mode to work, it doesnt seem to get picked up by the 3DS, surely I must not be getting positions right or something but the magnet is pretty strong and when the 3DS turns on the 3DS is in sleep mode, so idk

You need the kernel, not the firmware. It's called WoodR4 V1.64.
Regarding N mode: you won't see anything in the 3DS's menu while the switch is in N state.
